What does 'Well-planted' mean to you?
I see the phrase 'well-planted' thrown around in forums and articles on fish care. I use it myself and have no concrete way to describe this subjective term. Someone needs to define what that actually means, as I see photos of all ranges of plant densities in tanks described as 'well-planted' o.O I ...

Re: Ideas for my tank
Hi! We have Malaysian Trumpet snails in our 20 gallon DP tank and they do a good job of aerating the substrate. Our puffers will eat the odd one, but we rarely find MTS shells so most survive and breed. We feed our DPs pond snails from our separate community tank. Additional loaches may depend on yo...

Re: The Story of Hank the Mbu Puffer.
I'd say roughly 24 inches including tail as he takes up half the tank when facing one end in the 75 gallon. Loved the story of Hank, thank you for sharing him with us :) We were on the edge of our seats reading and it was awful to see him floating after being out of the water - so glad he made it! ...

Re: Bloodworms
My DPs act the same way when I feed mysis shrimp, they look so hurt and offended that I would offer them something that is not their absolute favorite!
I think you are right about the color affecting their choice of food - our DPs pick out the reddest, brightest worms to eat first

Re: Experienced fish-keeper worst nightmare.
Good job saving your fish! What you describe truly IS a nightmare. I agree 100% with you regarding folks that don't take the time or resources to give their underwater pets the very best. No matter HOW big a tank we give them, or how we plant and sculpt, in the end we are selfish souls because we ca...

Re: New DP Tank
Very pretty space for your puffers :) The blue light is nice, but have you seen any changes in puffer behavior when the blue light is on? We have a blue light in our 20G too, and our puffers seem to get quite shy when it is on. I suspect they do not have great vision in low-light - they even stop be...

Re: Dwarf Puffer tank
Amazing plant growth! With such dense plant growth, you might want to toss a dozen cherry shrimp or so in there and let them breed. Your puffer would have such fun hunting them

Re: Dwarf Puffer feeding
1+ to PufferPunk's observation - pea puffers do become spoiled quickly. Our 3 pea puffers have been eating frozen bloodworms and live snails exclusively and when we try frozen mysis shrimp, the puffers literally let them bounce off their heads, and fall to the tank bottom. We then get the 'puffer sa...

Re: Pea Puffer Sexing Help!
Cute video! I like that your puffers will share their shrimp with each other.
They look healthy and happy, not sure if they are girls or boys.
They are spoiled too, getting to eat fancy shrimp - are those blue bolts, dreamy blues, or a different variety?
Thank you for sharing your video with us

Re: Live plants
Not sure if you are still looking for plant suggestions, but we find moneywort grows gigantic and spreads as well. As a bonus, the plant sends out new rootlets near the top so you can pluck off smaller baby plants and stick them into your substrate. Any pruning will make your plant branch out and be...

Re: Setting up a tank for DPs?
As many have mentioned, DP aggression is determined by each fish's personality. We unknowingly ended up with 3 males in a 20 G tank, and they are fine. The tank is a planted little jungle, and there are places to hide for each puffer. Everyone gets along so far and we feed each puffer one at a time,...

Re: Puffer not interested in food
I have never had to look for clove oil for this purpose, but this article:

describing how to dilute clove oil to sedate fish says you can find suitable oil in the toothache section of your pharmacy. Worth a try
