Finally Found a Striped Red Eye
Hey all, just wanted to share that after searching forever I finally was able to get a C. Salivator. It's a female so not as cool looking as the males, but still awesome. I have her by herself in a 29 tall, and I may add some fast fish like cardinal or rummy nose tetras.

Re: Water Hardness - Lurkers
160ppm is only around 10 dGH, that's honestly pretty moderate. By extremely hard I'm referring to water over 400ppm/24 dGH

Re: Water Hardness - Lurkers
Agree with Pufferpunk, they'll be totally fine with the water as is. Softer water fish do perfectly well in hard water unless it has an EXTREMELY high GH. Also I wouldn't even add RO water, the risk of an inconsistent pH outweighs any sort of benefit it would bring.

Re: ?
I'm extremely confused by this post but species of fish that different don't breed with each other. Their genotypes are too different for the gametes to be compatible.

Re: Palembang puffers together?
I wouldn't suggest that either, as lurkers are piscivores. They're pretty inactive though, I would suspect that if you keep the puffer fed then it would eat at most like 2 tetras a week. The New England aquarium has a tank with a Palembang and a group of small FW archers and that's how they prevent...

Re: Palembang puffers together?
I'm pretty sure that it's only been done temporarily in display tanks in stores. If it were to work longterm you would likely need a larger tank. If you wanted you could have one Palembangensis with like 20 small tetras, and they would get occasionally picked off but probably last a while.

Re: plecos with amazon puffer?
It worked for me, I had a 40 gallon with two SAPs and an L82 Pleco. I imagine that it depends heavily on the species of Pleco, personality of the puffers, and setup of the tank.

I would say P. Cochinchinensis, but you are correct that they all look pretty similar

Re: Soon to be puffer servant
I did read the articles before even joining the forum, and yes they helped a lot. However, "Without enough snails offered to them, they would need their teeth trimmed every 4-6 months. I have both species and do trim their teeth often." My hope would be to manage the teeth with "enou...
