Re: Puffer's toxin
I watched "River Monsters" last night and it made me think of our puffers toxins... The thing that made me think about it, was stingrays. Rays also have skin that is for the most part covered in toxin, with the most being concentrated on the tail (as far as the narrator is concerned). Anyo...

Re: Mangroves in Tank
Thanks for the feedback guys. 15 cm from the top would equate to about 60 liters, dropping the maximum capacity of the tank down to 140 liters/37 gallons, not counting substrate, decorations etc. Not an ideal solution. At one shop I did find something that I think might work - basically a modular p...

Re: Aquarium Glass/ Salt reaction
My marine tank is 3 years old (the setup) already and I have to clean the glass every second day. It's part of a marine tank. I do routine water changes (about 20% once or twice a week) and run a skimmer - still have to clean glass. For the first couple days, it's a haze on the glass (looks almost f...

Re: Mangroves in Tank
I have a red mangrove in the corner of my 20 gallon saltwater tank. I run a 175 Watt MH light. It grows like crazy. I will have to trim it soon.

Re: Clownfish huddle
one quick comment... Clownfish will host almost anything. I've seen them "host" a magfloat for example lol. Mine routinely host my large grouping of mushrooms. That "ball of fish" is still pretty damn interesting.

Re: Sump questions!
My sump - for my 150 gallon Fahaka tank is a 35 gallon long. I went to Walmart and bought some of those plastic sliding storage drawers (measured to make sure it would fit). I then drilled a bunch of holes in the top piece of plastic. The top drawer is full of plastic dish scrubbies and the second (...

Re: crayfish?
I feed my Fahaka Crays on a regular basis. I have a 75 gallon of marmokrebs with easily a few hundred crays in it. They're definitely crunchy enough for a Fahaka, but my Ceylon needs more... He can actually crunch right though MTS (malaysian trumpet snails) which are very very hard and not recommen...

Re: fahaka in a 125 gallon
Cool . I got mine to eat tiny snails and mysis. He is not eating as much as I would expect but I hope to change that soon Stick with snails! Mine would only eat blood worms for the first few weeks (after his 2 week hunger strike was over). Now the list is pretty extensive: Crayfish (marmokrebs that...

Re: fahaka in a 125 gallon
I'm a little late on the post... But my Fahaka was about the same size when I got him. One of my LFS got him by accident. Talked the manager down to $30 for the little guy (posted $50). He/she is now 2 years old and over 10". EATS ANYTHING. last meal was : a few earthworms, 1 canadian night cra...
