Re: New light fixture
I didn't measure the bulbs outside of the fixture, just a rough guesstimate. There are 4 pins per light, rounded. I plan on using http://www.petco.com/product/111507/Coralife-Compact-Fluorescent-True-Actinic-Blue-Light-Straight-Pin-Base-Bulb.aspx?CoreCat=OnSiteSearch and http://www.petco.com/product...

Re: New light fixture
IF i can get them, i would probably give them free to a few people on here (shipping covered though). Measurements are 18 inches long, 5 3/4 front to back and 4 inches high. The bulbs are roughly 16 inches long each. The ballast and everything is located waterproof in the top of the fixture behind t...

Re: New light fixture
I'm hoping we get the go ahead to throw the rest out. If we do, i'm coming home with around 15 of those. haha. I'll be giving away/trading the rest.

Re: New light fixture
Oh, i plan on capping the bare wires and putting them in the fixture. That was just to make sure it worked. lol
I'll pull out the dremel later and cut off those cross bars. The bulbs in the fixture right now are just regular lights. I'm thinking about picking up a 10k and actinic bulb

New light fixture
About 2 months ago at work we were made to take a large portion of our lighting fixtures out. They've been gathering dust in the back room so i talked to my boss and walked away with this bad boy. It WAS wired into a switch made only for specific mounting fixtures but with 2 tools it's now hardwired...

Re: Algae eating F8 companion
My SW molly completely destroyed all forms of hair algae that came in on my live rock. Their worth is so much more than the 2$ i spent on it..

Re: Marine setup COMPLETE!
Bought my first piece of coral today. Metallic orange mushroom about a half inch across. Also got a nice piece of LR to fill out the right side of the tank. It has all kinds of little things on it. They should be popping out soon.

Re: White tubes - What are they?
Will they ever come out of the tubes? I haven't seen them yet except for the red inside the tube.

White tubes - What are they?
I have these hard, white tubes on some of my live rock. Just wondering if anybody had an ID on them. I thought they were lifeless until i saw some red inside a few of them. Here's a picture. Not good quality but it serves it's purpose. The arrow points to one with the red in it. http://i57.photobuck...

I just wired 2 extra lights into my existing hood. It makes the tank look so much better. Colors are popping more.

Re: Marine setup COMPLETE!
Thanks! Sometimes i have to look to see if the surface is moving since the water is so clear. lol
Sadly i haven't seen any hitchhikers yet but the tank is only 2 weeks old so far. I'm thinking of picking up some more liverock this payday to fill out that right side of the tank more.

Re: Marine setup COMPLETE!
I moved some of my rock around a bit. There was 1 piece in the tank that just bothered me the way it was sitting. I also moved the powerhead up a bit for more surface movement. I'm hoping to trade one or both of my powerheads for koralia nano 445s (i think that's the flow on them). Anyways, here's s...
