Re: Congo puffer treatment

sounds good. be sure to defrost any frozen food before feeding. and if you can, soak food in vitamins before feeding. i'd be interested to know if the puffer shows any interest in the snails. Congo's usually ignore them. earthworms & crickets are good also. as far as the meds go, it might be nic...

Re: Congo puffer treatment

..........so far I've never heard of a miurus puffer with parasites, but that's not to say it couldn't happen. de-worming meds should be given by soaking the food in the med, then feeding (as opposed to adding it to the water). treating as such in the main tank should be fine. what are you planning ...

I'm a bit pessimistic about a fish with half it's gut ripped out and being left to die that way.

being equipped..................

Why, oh why, do people invest all that goes into having an aquarium, then skimp out on a quality liquid test kit?

Re: Need help!

Amonia strip read between ideal and safe so between 0 to 0.25. Nitrate at "okay" between 20 to 40. Nitrite at "stress" around the 3.0 mark. and PH reads at what looks like "ideal" around 8.4. and salinity is about 0.08. strips are not accurate. your water parameters ma...

Re: Mysterious Dwarf Puffer Death, Seeking Closure

Did you do a water change immediately when you first noticed symptoms? Based upon your sketchy water parameters & description of the behavior, i'd go with poisoning. We can't stress the importance of proper water testing enough, it answers 90% of the questions, in addition to heading off a probl...

Re: Fahaka puffer problems

Get a liquid test kit.
The test kit strips are not accurate.
Water should be tested every day if there is a problem with the water.
After the water is normalized and stable, it doesn't need to be tested as often.

Re: pea puffer starving to death

based upon personal experience and many years of activity in this forum, it seems that many (if not most) dwarf puffers have IPs when purchased. the amount of time it takes them to succumb to IPs has a lot to do with catching/distribution time & conditions/shipping/stress/water conditions. some ...

Re: Skinny and delayed Tetraodon schoutedeni (spotted congo) shipment

they are VERY emaciated they may have a serious case of IPs. if they looked like the picture in your first post when delivered, I'd REALLY take exception. who did you order them from? I've ordered fish to ship to me, and none have ever looked like something that I wouldn't purchase in person. I'd ha...

they don't look too good.
have you been in touch with the seller, sent pictures?
when you requested pre-shipping pictures, how much time went by between the request for pictures and the shipping of the fish?

I hope they were able to fix it... they really weren't able to fix it (though they tried-unsucessfu...
