Where to send for Necropsy?

I lost one of my bw Puffers yesterday. I will explain in more detail when I have a little more time. I've had him for about 5yrs and he has two tankmates and a former tankmate remaining. The death was very sudden and I would like to find cause-of-death, partly just to know what happened, and partly ...

I'm truely sorry to hear that. I was hoping I could pick your brain about it. My F8s have never shown any inclination towards reproducing.

Locks for Love is a charity that uses the hair people donate to make wigs for kids with diseases that make them lose their hair, either because of the disease or the treatment. That is a wonderful organization. I've donated my hair three times now… much to my husband's dismay. http://www.locksoflov...

If you would like to aquire some Nerites, I highly recommend purchasing them from John and Shelley at Florida Pets. They are great people to work with. They regularly collect Virgin Nerites (and lots of other specimens) to sell via their website. They also have amazingly low shipping costs for those...

Dang-it! The title of the thread made me think about flying up to get some of the Puffs you didn't have room for! Alas! Good luck with it. :)

Our T miurus is called Spud too maybe its because the LFS had him labelled as a potato puffer lol regards Sue
My mr kept referring to him as something other than a potato. I eventually trained the mr to "The Potato" and then to "Spud".

I second the vote for fishyfishy. They are great to deal with. They send healthy specimens properly packaged. That is where I got my large red T.miurus, Spud. I'm very happy with them.

I have two F8s overdue for a trim. One broke his bottom dental plate off so now his top plate overgrows. The second one just has spurts of upper plate growth. It doesn't matter how many snails I give him, he eventually needs a 12–18mth trim. Maybe I'll try a swig of Clove Oil before their next tri...

As far as I know, there are no marine Puffers (other than Tobies) that can be housed in a tank that small.

I don't seem to have a source for live black worms. Brine shrimp, daphnia and meal worms are all available live, but I don't think these are proper alternatives. Ghost shrimp are available as well, but they are too large I think. Live blackworms are available at http://www.aquaticfoods.com . Live B...

I have some Metronidazole powder but I have not used it yet. I treated a couple of my F8s with PraziPro (Praziquantel) by soaking their food in a couple of drops. It worked really well but I discontinued the treatment to soon and the Puffs got skinny again.

What does the bump feel like? Does it feel firm like calcification of a wound or pliable like a cyst or fatty tumor?

Yep. I've seen them like that. Perfectly round, with eyes on one end and a tail on the other!
