Re: I Want To Get Some Figure Eights
As for the MTS issue, I said not to feed the MTS when the puffs are babies. (because it will break their teeth) I recommended rams and pond snails. When your F8 is full grown, it can prolly eat them. No, it can't. Larger MTS have even harder shells than baby MTS. Adult puffers have broken their bea...

Re: What did you do with your tank today
My refractometer finally arrived too -- I'll be starting to raise the SG in my F8 tank next weekend. This weekend, I found a second piece of holey rock at the LFS that the puffs seem to enjoy.

Re: Dwarf puffer owners i need your help...
I can't help but notice in that pic of the female, post munching, her tummy is bigger down one side. Any of you other DP owners ever notice that when they REALLY pack a lotta food in, they have a larger belly on one side? That's my little fatty fat fat in the pic, and now that you mention it, she d...

Re: I Want To Get Some Figure Eights
But, Ill answer them all in order just in case :)]I still say 2 F8s and a bristlenose pleco would be fine in a 25g, as long as it isn't the tall type. You really need a long tank. A pleco would not be happy at the recommended SG for Figure 8s. Plecos don't tolerate salt well. I personally wouldn't ...

Re: My f8's won't eat snails.
Definitely crush the snails. My F8s don't know what to do with intact snails -- they act curious for a few moments, then abandon them. Crushed snails, however, don't even make it to the bottom of the tank when I drop them in!

Re: Baby F8s already not getting along
WOW, puffykid! That is a seriously decorated tank -- very nice! Mine's full o' stuff, but no, it's not THAT full. That looks like puffer heaven! Heather, I promise to take some pics this weekend. I'm switching from gravel to aragonite sand tomorrow, so as soon as the anticipated cloudiness subsides,...

Do you think I should keep only one of my F8s?

Re: Baby F8s already not getting along
I'll be able to post a FTS after the weekend. But it's seriously decorated. LOTS of plastic plants, caves, ornaments, and a gigantic piece of Texas holey rock in the middle of everything. If I had just one F8, could I ease up on the decor a bit?

Re: New Peas!
That tank looks terrific for 3 DPs! Lots to do in there.
Have you treated them for IPs yet? The one in the photo looks a little skinny.

Baby F8s already not getting along
I have two new baby F8s, Hula and Luau, who share a fully cycled 29 gallon tank. The puffs are the same size, about an inch, but one of them (Hula) is totally dominant. He chases Luau away from food, chases Luau away if I'm looking in the tank, and just generally has an "I Rock the Tank" v...

Re: I Could Use Some Feeding Advice for DPs ...
My DPs happily accept a variety of frozen foods: bloodworms, mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and even daphnia. They also love pieces of crab or shrimp (if I have seafood for dinner, they do too). I've never tried freeze-dried foods. Be careful with those MTS. Their shells are very hard and could damage ...

Re: What set-up would you suggest for DPs
I have 3 DPs in a 29 gallon. They love having the space. With 2 females and 1 male, there's no fighting at all. Mine have a long sunken pirate ship with numerous holes and caves in it for hiding. They love it! When you add caves and hidey-spots for your DPs, make sure you have enough for each puffer...

Double-checking before buying aragonite
I'm going to change the substrate of my F8 tank from small gravel to aragonite. I've never used anything but decorative aquarium gravel before, so I wanted to double-check here to make sure the stuff I'm considering is "correct" before heading to the store. Would any/all of these be fine? ...

Re: Advice on Pea Puffers (DPs)
I agree with Phoenix91, less is more when stocking DPs. I had 5 babies in a 29 gallon, with no other fish or aquatic life. Once their sexes became apparent and they had matured, I discovered I had 3 males and 2 females, and the males were having nasty little fights. Two went back to the LFS. I now h...

At the top of the page, go to "Learn," then choose "The Puffer Library," then the tab marked "Categories." There are fantastic articles in there about how to set up a terrific home for your future puffers. This article is specifically on Dwarf Puffers: http://www.thepuf...
