Re: My puffer hate the power head

I could not detect any voltage leaks so I swapped the two Maxijets out for my two Penguin 660 RFUGF pumps that were being used in my 55 gallon goldfish aquarium and placed the Maxijets in their place. The puffers seem more active now and for the first time they actually greeted me at the glass. My g...

Re: I Made a Bid!

Beautiful Goldfish! Goldfish were my first fish obsession ever since I was a kid. In a lot of ways the puffers and goldfish have a lot in common in regards to personality and intelligence (despite the common myths surrounding goldfish) which is why I think I have become so drawn to the puffers as we...

Re: You know you have a problem when...

I actually started looking for a 90-125 gallon tank on Craigslist and some pet stores today. I found a 125 for 200 bucks that I may consider if my roommate doesn't kill me. Note that I already have two 55's a 20 and a 2 gallon tank littering the place. lol

Re: Chewing of pebbles to wear down teeth?

I actually witnessed this happening a lot when I first introduced my GSP's to the tank. They would chew on pebbles or bite down and "flinch" themselves on some dead coral rock that I got real cheap at the LFS. It was the most unique thing I had ever seen a fish do. I threw in some small sn...

Re: My puffer hate the power head

Well I sure hope there is not any stray voltage leaking. Wouldn't that have killed them already? The units seem to be like new as I even have the original boxes and stock parts. I may just have some extremely shy and sensitive GSP's. There is no telling what they have been through being "rescue...

Re: My puffer hate the power head

I know this is an old thread but I hope it is okay to revive it. I am thinking I have this problem too, the 55 gallon setup I bought off of someone on Craigslist came with TWO Maxijet 1200's timed to run every 45 mins on opposite corners of the tank. I have noticed the puffers are really shy and oft...

Re: Newbie GSP Owner

Thanks for that detailed article. I have changed my tank around a bit and I will definitely look into getting the third puffer separated. I just noticed tonight the poor little guy was hiding in a cave in the bottom corner of the tank and when he slowly came out to greet me I noticed something i had...

Re: Newbie GSP Owner

I was actually just looking at this one when you posted: http://www.thepufferforum.com/forum/ug.php?g2_itemId=341 I could break out my dads old custom made 30 gallon aquarium that he has in storage and evacuate my fancy goldfish into it and place one of my GSP's in the 55 gallon they are currently r...

Re: Walmart makes me angry! (and updates)

At the local Walmart where I "liberated" my 3 GSP's

Living conditions are far from decent compared to OP pics (at least that store bothered to use some gravel to cover the poo). However, these fish here must have been fairly new as they looked active and healthy for the most part.

Re: Newbie GSP Owner

Thanks for the welcome and for the insight. Hello and welcome  that 55 isn't going to be big enough for those 3 gsp as they require 30 gal each. Are you planning an upgrade or another tank soon? Also, be prepared to take the tank to full marine when they get bigger, and don't be surprised wh...

Newbie GSP Owner

Hello everyone! After many years of having fancy goldfish and various tropicals, I have recently started my own brackish puffer aquarium. After doing some research (which led me here) I am apparently a common story as I had got my 3 puffers at a local Walmart which is frowned upon. They are Green Sp...
