IME you cannot use the API or Tetra GH test kit to test BW as it will read extremely high every time. For example, my tapwater GH test at a low 7 degrees or so...But my BW tankwater tested at like 50+ degrees (drops). Only test KH with BW and you'll be good. I have 2m/2f. One male is huge and the other male is as small as the other two females. I keep 4 in a 29g with 6 black kuhlis. Have for 2 years or so. If the kuhlis weren't in there I might/would add another DP.


Just to be sure, the 30g would be a dedicated DP tank, right?

Brackish water will make the API ammonia test look like the yellow has a green tint to it. It has always done this for me. Also the pleco should not be in 1.010 SG.
