Re: substrate
I use floramax and/or eco-complete on my new setups. My older ones are 30+yr old gravel.

Re: Hello from BC !!
Welcome! I've always had a hard time on my phone might be easier on a tablet. You will want to go to photobucket in a browser, request the desktop site. Select the image, click edit, then go over to resize. I find it easy to set one of the pixles sizes to 500 and then hit save.

Re: Drastic change in DP behaviour
I've noticed occasional mood swings in my gsp. I've had period of a couple weeks that it will avoid me like the plague. Then after will be back to normal behavior.

+1 to PP and yes go to full marine with live rock and a skimmer. Then you get to play around with corals.

Re: Picky Puffer
I personally use frozen bloodworms as a backup. Mine get live black worms as much as possible. If you want to use something self stable you can try freeze dried bloodworms. Anything freeze-dried always re-hydrate and dose with vitamins like vitachem.

Please post some more details. How long has the tank been set up. What salinity are you running at? How big is the tank? How are you filtering? What do you have for decor? How much flow do you have in the tank? What have you tried feeding?

Re: such a happy puff
Mine will nip if my finger tips are at the surface. If my whole hand is in the tank he is as far away as possible. However I did need to "burp" him when he decided to take a stroll out of the tank and I found him in the carpet. During this he did take a chunk out of my thumb.

Re: such a happy puff
I wish the guy in my avatar pic would let me pet him like this. He is very unhappy when I try. If I was that scubba diver I would up and move to that location and go pet him everyday.
