nice looking tank -- ! Plenty of stuff to explore (watch the wood though as you increase the SG, it may rot and foul your water) i would not worry about the pacing, it is totally common for them to pace at first (for a couple weeks even) -- i think my full grown fig 8 paced for close to a month --- ...

personally, i like the low tech approach -- this involves low to moderate lighting (under 2 wpg) and no CO2 injection --- but i know others that swear by co2 and high lighting -- the high tech approach requires more maintenance and more equipment but you can get much better plant growth and ward off...

there is a good feeding article in the library -- i feed mine mainly snails, but also include bits of prawn (with the shell on), cockle, mysis shrimp, and only the occasional krill or bloodworms from what ive heard krill can be like puffer crack and it can get hard to get them off of it , so the soo...

PP -- does their color depend on their substrate at all -- or, for example, would yours lose color if it were on say brown or black sand ?

my BBGs are also pretty brave and will fight for scraps with the fig 8 -- this has happened less since i started target feeding with a turkey baster
