Re: Baby Porcupine help?
I don't think so, these are very interactive fish. Fish kept together at a store is only temporary housing.

Re: New to Puffers
Welcome! I applied for work at the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago to do that job but they said I needed 200 hours of diving experience. I now have over 500 dives under my belt but never went back for the job.

Re: Baby Porcupine help?
Welcome! Hex tanks aren't the best for this species & eventually you will want a tank 2x this size for the tans & puffer. Puffers are shy & not very competitive for food. Your trigger is aggressive towards other fish & bullies others for food. Not a great combo, IMO. Crushed coral is...

Could be a cyst then. Sorry, I'm pretty much the only one running this site.
Lots of knowledgable folks here though: https://www.facebook.com/groups/pufferfishenthusiasts

A healthy cycled tank should be showing some nitrate. Are you sure you shook the tubes exactly as the directions say to?

Re: Soon To-be Fahaka mama
Welcome!
What have you been doing to keep the empty tank cycled? Adding ammonia?

I do know of a guy who breeds giant cockroaches for his puffers.

I actually do have the NLS pellets but my fahaka is so hard to feed! He turns his nose up on shrimp, scallops & squid.

Re: Figure 8 puffers routinely getting sick
I do not see a photo here. You need to upload them on a photo site & then link them here. If they are always coming in sick, can you use a different supplier? how long are they taking to be shipped to you? Symptoms? Even as a holding tank, 10g is way too small for the fish to feel safe & com...

Re: Dwarf Puffer with swollen chin
Even if it is nematodes (which look like a raised circle under the skin), there's nothing you can do about it without killing the fish.

Re: Healthy figure 8, but scratching and itchy.
LOL, a fish vet working at a LFS? Probably just self-proclaimed "expert". Fish do not "flash" from IPs. In addition, freshwater fish do not drink water, so adding an anti-parasite drug will not help with IPs at all. If anything, it may help ICH which can have the symptom of flash...

Hi, I do see these occasionally on my fish's fins. too. They seem to just go away on their own. Are they getting larger?
