Re: Looking for info on this Puffer

hi, Irian Jaya is a part pf papua new guinea which is an island parted into two counries (the other one is indonesia). so nothing new at all. just that the exports seem to be new from this part of the world. i do not think that a black belly is a sign for the stress of the fish: in my tank it was al...

Re: Teeth trimming and A. modestus

hi to both of you, as i see it, and there is also nothing i can find in scientific papers, there is simply no difference in the color. i depends just on how the light is falling on them: sometimes they look more silver or golden, most of the time they are greenish-metallic. the last pictures seem to...

Re: Teeth trimming and A. modestus

hi,
i for myself could not differentiate between the first picture in the pufferpedia here and the pictures of a silus. where do you see the difference?
it is not the colour for sure: i still have mine in the same tank and the color is just the same!

Re: Teeth trimming and A. modestus

hi,
i have never had to trim the teeth of my modestus, but i have to trim the teeth of a.silus every some months, no matter how many tons of snails it gets.
the problem is that this two species are often sold together and most people can not differentiate them, especially not as juvenile fish.

Re: Looking for info on this Puffer

hi, i am keeping this species for some months now. it is right that this species has been caught from brackishwater until this year. they import them now from irian yaja and i do trust them that they have really been caught in freshwater. neverthelesse (yes, like with t.biocellatus) this species is ...

Re: Carinotetraodon somphongsi

hi,
if the males have shiny red stomaches it could also be c. borneensis. this two species get mixed up very often. best post pictures here to go sure!

Re: NEW GUINEA RED LINE TRIBAL PUFFER, T. ERYTHROTAENIA

hi, i will put them into freshwater first and then keep an i from them. got an e-mail from the exporters from irian yaja and they tol me the same. so it could (!) be the truth. they have been sold to me as cf. erythrotaenia but this does not mean anything to me: just because they are from freshwater...
