Re: Pao abei, aka T. abei, aka Abe's Puffer

Select the ATTACHMENTS tab at the bottom... Not a problem. I have a few good pictures, but can't figure out how to get them on here. If anyone here is less of a technological moron than me I would be happy to e-mail some to you for posting. I tried that. It tells me the file is too large every time.

Re: Pao abei, aka T. abei, aka Abe's Puffer

I'm on a mobile app. Maybe that's why I can't get a picture posted on here. Anyhow, I posted a picture of him on the r/MonsterFishKeepers subreddit a few weeks ago. If anyone here wants to download the picture and post it for me, feel free. His name is Pogo and the caption on the post is "only ...

Re: Mussels on the half shell?

If you have access to an Asian food market, definitely check it out. The one where I live is great. Cockles, clams, snails, mussels, shrimp. All sort of goodies that most chain stores won't carry.

Re: Pao abei, aka T. abei, aka Abe's Puffer

I've heard of people putting small ones into large community tanks. The few I've heard more about didn't go well at all. Can't imagine the others fared any better. Mine had nine tiger barbs that cycled his tank. One gone five minutes in. One more on day two. On day six, he killed five in about twent...

Re: Pao abei, aka T. abei, aka Abe's Puffer

Still looking for info? I've been keeping an abei for about a year now. Definitely a one fish to a tank kind of fish. So far I've learned he seems to be most active at dawn and dusk, so crepuscular would be the best word. At night he always seems to be in his favorite hiding spot and definitely seem...

Color/pattern changing abilities in pufffers

Does anyone know of any research that has been done on the subject?

Re: Abei puffer questions?

Haven't had to do any dental work on mine. From what I understand, most of the lurking types don't need it with a proper diet. Mine gets fiddler crabs and crayfish in it's diet. 20 L is a bit small but 20 L is better than 20 H. Think I covered the rest in the other post.

Re: Pogo the plant killer

He's about 5". Hardest things about him are that he's a little bit picky (that could just be mine ), and his personality. He's destructive. He's aggressive and predatory so no tank mates. He will bite the hand that feeds him, so learn to keep one eye on him when you're working in the tank or ne...

Re: Pogo the plant killer

His personality makes all the malevolent behavior totally worth it. I've had plenty of foul natured fish and reptiles, but none this intelligent.

Sorry. Unfinished post. My bumbling mitts don't play well with tiny touch screens. Takes forever just to type this out without endless typos and misspellings.

Pogo the plant killer

This isn't a question, just a fair warning to anyone with a tank full of expensive (or cheap) live plants. Over the last six months I've watched my plants disappear. It's never been a mystery. Everyone in the house has seen it happen. Pogo (abei) sees food and goes for it. If the plant is in the way...
