puffer surgery

When using finquil with a saltwater fish, do I add it to salt or freshwater? The directions only say add to water. What do you guys do when trimming your puffs teeth? Also my vet agreed to let me video tape and take pictures. I'm excited and nervous Friday. The tumor is continuing to grow. I can't w...

Re: where to get finquil?

I just got the appointment time for Jukes surgery, Friday at 11:30. Hopefully Friday is not the last time I see my puffer friend. What should I treat his tank with while he is recovering afterwards? I was not planning on putting him in a hospital tank since there aren't other fish that will bug him....

Re: where to get finquil?

I thought it was cool too. He is also an aquarist. I'm gonna ask him if I can video tape the procedure. Not sure the price but I'm supplying the medication so I hope not too much. It will be worth it if it saves his life.

Re: where to get finquil?

I finally found and ordered some. Thank you. His surgery is next week. Have you ever heard of something like this? I wouldn't do it if he could live with the growth but the vet thinks can't.

where to get finquil?

My porc, Juke has swelling under a spine still. It is now 3x the size it was. I called my vet and luckily he has some experience with fish. I spoke to him about symptoms and looked over the pics. He thinks it's a tumor of some sort. And he thinks it will continue to grow until it kills him or he is ...

I hope that's what it is. I'm worried about him, that makes me feel a little better.

Re: Infected spines on porcupine puffer

He is acting normal again today. Do you think it will go away? Or it's something he can live with normally?

Re: Infected spines on porcupine puffer

Yes I have seen that happen multiple times with him. This does not look normal or anything like the porc in that post. What I am concerned about is th the large lump under his spine. I can't seem to find a similar situation. The melafix is not helping.

Re: possible infected spine

I have treated Jukes tank for a few days with melafix. So far no improvement. He had been acting normal up to about an hour ago. He is hanging out at the bottom. He's still moving around but slowly and he spit out food. I'm concerned the swollen spike is possibly poking his fin. Either way I'm sure ...

Well I did say it was for a 40B... Dont think that will fit well in there!
Oh didn't notice that part. Too bad, i LOVE my porc! Coolest pet ever. A Dragon puffer looks like it would be interesting, but dwarf puffers are adorable. Goodluck

Re: possible infected spine

I have taken 20 pictures and so far this is the best I got. Its right under his pectoral fin. You can see a spine slightly sticking out. It's on top of the lump. I can see it in the pic but I can see how it would be hard if you don't know what your looking at. I will continue to try n get a better p...
