Yikes, good point PP.... if anything is worse then tap water it would have been some sort of cleaner and tap water. For tank decor, that is going to still be used in your tank, you only want to clean it with tank water, so when doing a water change pull out any decor that needs a cleaning and clean ...

also worried about you saying you gave the rock/wood a good cleaning.... if you used fresh water you killed off the much needed bacteria it was holding.

I'm so sorry, so unbelievably truely sorry. I'm in tears reading this, I know how much you loved this little guy/girl and how excited you were about the new tank (much like me with Wasabi). Nothing more I can really say... I have no idea what could have happened, do you think the live mussels could ...

Just wanted to wish you luck. As you know I feel your pain, my DH Craig is the same way... and since I'm a stay at home mom he really can get ... let's call it annoyed... with the time and money I spend on my tanks. He likes my aquapod reef well enough since it's "pretty to look at" but he...

I would think you could make up some clove oil to put him out (as described for puffer dentistry needs) and pull it out carefully with some tweezers?

Am I understanding you still plan to put 3 GSP's in the 55g? This is a bad idea, you really want 30g per puffer... and it's pretty agreed upon that a 55g is to small for 2 adults even. Can you move your cichlids to the 55g and put your 3 puffers in the 90g? That would be a MUCH better plan :) Make s...

The bacteria you needed from your established tank is in the gravel/decor/filter media... not so much the water. Take some of the gravel and put it in the new tank or squeeze the filter media into it etc. I might be wrong but I think the hard breathing is a sign of ammonia poisioning? As PP said, th...

I checked the water params other than that, there was a little ammonia, a little nitrite, and a little nitrate in there, but all were within acceptable levels. I didn't notice that anyone addressed this statement so I thought I better. There are no acceptable levels for ammonia and nitrite, in a cy...

Thank you for the info! Do you happen to have any photos of him? I just saw your in NY (we're new to NJ) did you get him locally? I was considering getting one from nyaquatics.com (purchased a few other fish from him a few months ago, great experience and very healthy fish)

Anyone have experience with the Hawaiian Spotted Puffer (Canthigaster jactator) ? Still going over my potential choices for next puffer. Pretty likely I'll hold out until I can find a bigger GSP and acclimate him to SW but ialso really like the looks of the Hawaiian spotted online. Thanks for any in...

well I should note that Wasabi doesn't actually appear stressed... his color never changes and he doesn't rush off to hide/run... just swims the other way. I'm shopping for a seperate tank for him locally/used now regardless though so I can get him back to FOWLR in hopes he loses a bit of the noctor...

anyone have a 6 line with their marine gsp?

The monster steal your first born child at night pods were getting out of control in my tank, Wasabi (gsp) and Ginger (gsm clown) weren't interested in eating them (or not enough to make a dent, I did watch wasabi stalk the rock and chomp on it assuming he was going after them)... anyways I decided ...

Hey Justin, Did you GSP ever show any interest in your chromis? I just added a small school and so far I'm questioning my decision. Wasabi took the trouble of making an appearance when I put them in (he is normally never seen, maybe once or twice a day he'll come out of the rockwork for a quick snai...
