Re: Went on vacation.. disaster..

I think that might have been apart of it.. Both my older brother, his fiancee and my parents friends who own fish knew what happened while I was away, my mom said she was worried it was her fault the whole time and couldn't think of how to break it to me. I was told on the ride home from the airport...

Re: Went on vacation.. disaster..

Since this is basically going to be a new tank set up, should I just remove the substrate and put the rock in the tank without substrate to cure? I can dilute the water much more than the bins I am using that way. I'm still on the fence if I should just spend all afternoon tomorrow rinsing all the s...

Re: Went on vacation.. disaster..

The rock is still very moist, so I'm curing the rock in a bin now, I've been scrubbing the rock from debris and placing it in a bin with saltwater, a powerhead and a heater. The sand is completely submerged with water left over from when my parents siphoned it out. Little pink worm like organisms se...

Re: Went on vacation.. disaster..

I think I'm going to buy two 30 gallon bins and cure the rock in them with a power head and heater for 5 or 6 weeks as i watch the water parameters. I'll scrub the rock though to remove any dead matter. I noticed that all the rocks are still pretty moist, that may be a very positive sign that some b...

Re: Went on vacation.. disaster..

hmm, I could try to do that jus85411, the filter still has water in it and the bacteria may have survived, the substrate is still submersed and some parts of the live rocks are under water. Should I fill the tank back up, turn on the skimmer and filter and do water changes every day to get a new cyc...

Can anyone point me to a resource on how to clean the dried out rocks and prepare to reseed them?

Went on vacation.. disaster..

Hey guys, I went on vacation this past week and just got home. I entrusted my aquarium which housed my porcupine puffer with my mom for feeding. I did a water change and checked to make sure everything was fine before I left and fed them as I would normally feed them. Apparently while I was away (on...

Re: Porcupine Puffer

My porc puff requires some form of attention everyday, and regular feeding. And you have to feed them in very particular ways, its not just like throwing flake food in the tank, I hand feed mine shrimp dipped in selcon and some harder foods like half shell clams and crabs etc. If you can't guarantee...

Re: Can you help me diagnose this white spot

Okay so that white spot has disappeared, and it looked like it slowly healed over a few days so it must have been a scratch. But this evening I found this very unusual marking near what looks like his nose. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v284/ganondestroyer/photo2-1.jpg Notice the brown markings....

Re: Can you help me diagnose this white spot

Hmm he has been window surfing up and down near a powerhead maybe he has been bumping into it, I'm going to move it out of his way.

I can't tell what he wants but he keeps doing it.

Should I start the process of upgrading him to a 100 gallon +, he's only in a 65 now but he's grown so quickly o.0

Can you help me diagnose this white spot

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v284/ganondestroyer/photo1-1.jpg Notice the white spot above his eye. It has been there for 3 days now. I am in the process of testing water parameters and will post as soon as I can. It does not look raised like a bump but more like a scratch, I have never seen Ic...

Re: Need help identifying odd invertebrate

Also my aquarium is riddled with feather duster worms all over the place (they are mating as we speak). Should I start maintaining their levels, I'm worried they might cause the fish stress or deplete oxygen despite their filtering benefits. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v284/ganondestroyer/phot...

Need help identifying odd invertebrate

I've attached a picture below of these odd round pink invertebrates that appeared on one of my live rocks. Not sure what they are, or if they are harmful/beneficial or what I should do with them. Any help would be appreciated, thanks! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v284/ganondestroyer/photo11.jpg

Re: Anyone ever keep a maroon clown fish with a puffer?

Oh my pufferpunk, I'll be careful feeding him then. I'll keep on eye on the puffer, although my porc. is a pretty tough fish, he didn't take any bullying from my large Volitan back in the day and he was half it's size. I'll separate them if I have to. The puffer has his own cave and the maroon loves...

Anyone ever keep a maroon clown fish with a puffer?

I have a young porc. puff with a maroon clown fish and yellow tang. The maroon clown fish is a bit bigger than the puffer. When I feed the puffer pieces of shrimp, the maroon always tends to snag some away for himself, I'm curious if this type of competition will spur on hostility, I can take more c...
