Re: Diatoms, Ghost shrimp and Moonlights, OH MY! (PICTURES!)
hmm.. so ghost shrimp do survive in brackish?
I think I may try introducing one, the puffers are young and will be more accustomed to frozen food (snails soon)

Re: Diatoms, Ghost shrimp and Moonlights, OH MY! (PICTURES!)
i'd like a ghost shrimp... are they suitable for BW?
I'm guessing that my F8's would eat it within mins of being introduced into the tank anyway....

Re: Mixing fish/plants
my F8's just eat everything I chose to put in the tank
i put Java fern in, they peck it to death within 24 hours, I put in Java moss, they pull it apart and send it in the direction of the filter...
although they do seem to be getting bored with the moss so it may survive... maybe

Re: First tank. Help me avoid rookie mistakes.
I really like the look of the black glass though. Is there any reason I couldn't use 2/3 aragonite and then the glass for the top layer? The glass is completely neutral so it would only be an aesthetic choice. [/color] I may be wrong here but i think it's the exposed surface area of the aragonite t...

Re: First tank. Help me avoid rookie mistakes.
+1 on the aragonite substrate, I just populated my tank a little over a month ago and quickly realised that the substrate I had just wasn't suitable for the messy eaters :) I changed over to aragonite sand and now keeping the tank clean is a breaze! they find the missed food and vacuuming the sand s...

Re: GH figure way too high or reasonable?
It's the salt that makes your GH test high. I tried to test mine several times before and I couldn't add enough solution drops to get a change in color. lol.. .it took me 20 drops to get the colour change! I thought I was losing my mind.. well, thanks for your responses guys. So I guess it's not wo...
