They are really slow growers, at least from what I have seen. I have had mine for over a year and it hasn't grown much at all, maybe half an inch or so. It would be better to purchase them around the size mine is, 7-8" inches. I'm going on a search for a male though, see what happens.

Hello all. About 2 months after I purchased my 7-8" "FW" toadfish it laid about 150 large (just under pea-sized) eggs. They of course were not fertile, however, I have noticed now she is full again, even after she hasn't been fed for about a week (that induced egg production last time...

Sounds good. My only problem is keeping the inhabitants of my tank in. My mudskippers have a pesky habit of climbing the sides of the tank and would surely escape. I do have a screen cover that I could place saran wrap (sp?) to hold in the humidity.

My plan I think was to, when it grows more, to have the top of the tree growing out of the tank, if it gets that big. I think it would be a good idea to hang a flourescent fixture above the tank to help the tree grow.

Any thoughts?

Sorry, not thinking clearly. I completely forgot about water fertilisers for aquarium plants. The only other problem I can see also is the fact that bonsai's must stay in very small containers, I don't have my mangrove in an container at all so I'm not sure how that would work out.

The only problem I can see arising, is the fact that you must use a lot of fertilisers with a bonsai'd plant. I'm 95% sure theres not a fertiliser that mudskippers would like to cope with.

I have a mangrove and I was wondering if it is possible to bonsai a mangrove tree for use in an aquarium. My only concern is the use of fertilizers. But what if you kept a tree pruned to the size you want, would it kill the plant or keep it small?

Have you tried rosy reds? Maybe they will take to live fish better than crustaceans?

I think int he wild, the only time shese morays spend in pure freshwater is when they are born, and then immediately head for saltwater. Fish like these usually take to a change in salinity much better since esturaies salinity is altered weekly even from heavy rainfalls etc.

I used to havee a preggy ghost shrimp in a 10 gal I had. They should be fine unless you have some bottom feeder fish. They will eat what they can find off the bottom, it's not necessary to go out of your way to give them extra food. But plenty of cover as RTR said will help, but fish love them! Lol.

I am pretty sure "freshwater" morays require high end brackish or pure saltwater as they get older.

My mudskippers eat just about anything. But I can definitely tell what they like more. They highly prefer frozen bloodworms or crushed shrimp over food pellets. Also they love livefood. Live guppies thrown in or small rosey reds they would like, as well as smaller non-toxic insects like 1/4" or...
