My DIY hood
My S/On built me this today! WDYT?

Haven't decided on whether or not to paint or stain, and it still needs handles. But so far so good! I want to do a stand next, but I may upgrade to a 60 so I'm just waiting so I can do the transfer all at once.

Re: Canister question!
I'm honestly feeling a bit overwhelmed. Where do I even begin with this sump business, lol!
I do think I want to go with the sump though, it appears easier to maintain once is finally up and running.. I'm just confused as to where I should start.

Re: Canister question!
Okay, I've done a little research, and understand how they work.
Do you all make your own sump filtration systems and ordering special pieces, or buying it? How many gallons should mine be for a 75g tank?

Re: Canister question!
Bananas, yes anemone*. I'm not sure why my ipad isn't recognizing that as a word.
Okay, I'll just get the two GSP instead of testing the waters with other tank mates.
(looking over this post I see my auto correct has changed "bahahaha" into bananas.. )

Re: Canister question!
My tank is a 75gal, and it will probably be a couple months. I want to do it slowly, because the GSP I am getting is smaller, in fresh water now. So I will be doing raising my SG every two weeks by .002 once I actually get the GSP. I still need to cycle my tank. I also won't be buying a filtration s...

Re: Canister question!
Hm okay. I will research a bit more with the sump filtration system, since I really am not familiar with it.
Thanks for your input everyone

Re: Canister question!
I read that you need to drill your tank with a sump filter, is this true with all sump filters?

Canister question!
I just bought a 75gal aquarium, and want some opinions on a canister filter.
It was suggested I get the fluval 405, but I'm getting mixed reviews.
What would you all suggest? It will be for a freshwater tank, transitioning into brackish, then eventually salt. I'm stockig it with two GSP.

I'd like to, but for some reason it isn't letting me actually post anything to the site. My computer isn't recognizing the comment box.
They posted that to their Facebook this morning.

Re: Petco blog makes them look like the morons they are.
I just can't get over the fact that they thought a five gallon fish tank was suitable for a fish that gets to be the "size of a golf ball".

Ah yes, I guess that is a five gallon. It's so small, I don't know the difference.
