For some reason, my fahaka's mucus poo sacs (sorry, I'm not sure of a techincal term ...) don't seem to hold the mealworm remenants very well. As for shrimp shells, they actually seem to act as a reinforcement by holding sacs intact until right before syphoning.

Guess it's just different puffs!

I'm with Pami on that ... also, you're using a synthetic sea salt mix, right? Just wanting to make sure, because aquarium salt (like Doc Wellfish's) does not make brackish or salt water, only synthetic sea salt does the job.

My condolences as well ... :cry: Unfortunately, it seems to be common that a few fishies must die in order for us to learn frm our mistakes ... but as Woland has mentioned, we can try to help prevent this as much as possible, so long as puffer owners are willing to put the effort in like you are in ...

Agreed with Myaj. I'd like to add the importance of broken lines of sight to that list, too.

If I'm not mistaken, the SeaChem kits will work for you ... RTR, can you confirm?

From my understanding, Prime does not affect the cycling process. It detoxifies ammonia, nitrIte, and nitrAte - this means it should still be availble to the biological filter for consumption.
