I've also read about Japanese Trapdoor snails. I've heard that a lot of FW people like them because they only reproduce in BW. That way you never have your tank over-run (not a problem for puffer folk). As their name suggests they also have a opercula (sp?) like MTS, which might help keep them safe ...

Sadly today the female died. I had seperated them, so I suspect it was a disease that killed her. But maybe she was stressed and made her more susceptible to disease. She only got chased about once or twice a day, though. Maybe once the 29g is freed up, I'll try to order more. But maybe not. Of the ...

1) The bumble bee gobies are in there, because this tank was supposed to be a BW tank with gobies and a Fig8, but the LFS got in these irrubesco sooner than I expected. So, the irrubesco are living in the 20g with the gobies until I move and put the 29g community into the 55g, freeing up the 29g for...

Irrubesco fighting?
So, I got a pair of irrubescos about a week ago. They look pretty healthy. The female had a touch of ich that showed up the day after I got them, but with a bit warmer temps and some salt, it seems to have cleared up. But, I've noticed that she seems to always be hiding and breating a bit heavy. She...

aragonite in a canister?
I"ve set up a 20g tank that will eventually be a BW tank for a fig8 puffer and a few bumble bee gobies. But, I really didn't want the look of the whitish gravel, so I went with the red flint gravel that works so well in all my FW tanks. I figured that since my water is really hard with a ph of ...

Orangish Porc Puffer
There's a porc puffer at one of the stores near me that is really orange compared to the usual ones I see.
Are there different sub-species/color phases or is this just a really cool lookin' one?

Irrubesco or Loreti? (ID please)
So, I started setting up a 20g tank that was to be a BW tank for future Fig8's, but then my LFs got in some "Bleeding Heart" puffers that look like they might be irrubesco, which I've been searching for for awhile. So, I got 2 females and a male. They're going to live in the 20g with a few...
