Re: Looking for 2 papers on Carinotetraodon

I was able to find the other paper, but I am still unable to find this paper:

Tan, H. H., 1999 - Ichthyological Exploration of Freshwaters 10(4): 345-354
A new species of Carinotetraodon from Sumatra and Borneo and validity of C. borneensis

Does anyone know where I can get this?

Re: Diodontidae vs Tetraodontidae Behavior

So are you saying there is not real behavior difference between diodonts and tetraodonts?

Diodontidae vs Tetraodontidae Behavior

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone has owned a Diodontid and a Tetraodontid at some point in their life. If so, how would you compare them, both in keeping them and their behavior. I haven't seen a Diodontid in a LFS in a long time. Could someone comment on them?

Re: Pufferfish books

~ $48 for the book and $9.50 for the supplements.

When I get it in a week or so, I will comment on the book.

Having said that, if they update this book in the next couple of years, I am going to be mad. Haha it is an expensive book.

Re: Pufferfish books

RTR, I understand you desire to dissemination knowledge without selling it and yourself as it were. I will say this: I wish there were more than two options of puffer fish information in terms of books. One of those options seems to be mostly pictures, and the other option seems to be rather scant i...

Re: Pufferfish books

RTR, what do you think about the two puffer fish books I mentioned in the OP? Do you own the aqualog? If so, do you think it is worth a buying, or is most of the information on the internet?

Re: Pufferfish books

I have looked through your pufferpedia. It certainly is full of information, but not necessarily the type I am looking for currently. I am more interested in comparative ecology, behavior, and evolutionary relationships. In your opinion, does the Aqualog book contain this type of information, or is ...

Re: Pufferfish books

If most of the information is in your puffer pedia, then I guess there isn't much point in buying it. As I said, I am more interested in ecology and behavior rather than husbandry, so if the book provides more of that information that it may be worth buying. That is what I am trying to figure out. A...

Pufferfish books

Hello,

I am looking to purchase a pufferfish book. I have only found two options, the Aqualog and the Practical Fish Keeping books. Does anyone own these? Are they any good? Which one is better? I am mostly interested in ecology, behavior, and evolution - not so much husbandry.

Thanks!

Re: Mystery "Pygmy Puffers." Help?

The LFS is Petland in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. It is a chain that is known for its puppy mill dogs. That notwithstanding it is one of the better places in Baton Rouge for freshwater fish of a non petsmart/petco variety.

Re: Mystery "Pygmy Puffers." Help?

See I see two distinct types of puffer. The lighter yellow one in the foreground definitely has the markings of a DP, but I assure you it was rather large. The other four puffs are much darker in markings. Perhaps next week I will venture there again and try to get movies of them.
