this is how they scurry around but the only difference between mine and the ones in the video is mine are tan-brown. i can't see any parts on them they are just round and very tiny.

mites? in feeder snail tank
i noticed tonight some little tan pinhead sized critters in my snail tank. there is a bunch crawling on the cuttle bone. any ideas of what these could be and if they could be harmful? they seem to be mostly on the cuttle bone but they are so small it is hard to see them so it is hard to tell just ho...

Re: pond snails oh pond snails
I have quite a few plants in there too so net would be out of the question. Tried the baited jar and i caught a few and two large ramshorns! I'll try and let them eat it and wait a day with out food so maybe the bait will be more tempting. i'll try the sinking wafers i use for my catfish, they love ...

so i'm really pleased that my pond snail population has bloomed as of late but what is the best way to get the little buggers out? i fumble around and still only manage to get one or 2 little babies.

Re: mini crabs
my sg is 1.005 so that could have something to do with it. as for lighting i'm not sure just what it is now because i've changed it out to hopefully hinder some algae growth but it was at 1 watt per gallonish using florescent plant bulbs when i had the hornwort. i use seachem florish once a week (th...

Re: mini crabs
I had some hornwort but it turned into a BIG mess the leaves slowly turned brown and shedded. But I will look into the other plants you've mentioned. I have some sag grass that is doing well and my java fern is just now slowly starting to die? it has holes all over it? hummm....

Re: mini crabs
Thanks jus, I guess it sounds like a good idea to scrap this idea.

Re: mini crabs
what floating plant would you recommend for a brackish (1.005ish)? I've already reduced my lighting output and hours the lights are on. That's what I was really concerned about with those crabs (needing land). I've always heard fiddlers need land but these were advertised differently. I don't know i...

mini crabs
I'm thinking of getting some mini crabs (Uca Spp.) for my 55 gal brackish set up. I currently have 2 F8's and 4 BB Gobi's in there. How do you think a few crabs would do? I'm looking at getting them to help with tank clean up and algae (I've been getting thick green sheets of it). I am reading diffe...

Re: f8 tankmates
I keep BB gobies with mine. I got extras to start as I read that they can sometimes have trouble adjusting and feeding. I now have 4 and they do just fine with my 2 F8's. I feed them frozen bloodworms, they hate the freeze dried lol. I tried molies but had to give them away because my puffs had trou...

Re: Tank Chemistry
Yeah all our other wells have tested real hard but this one tests soft. I'm guessing it is because it is kind of in the woods.
The test kit is API.

Re: Tank Chemistry
Soooo, anyway back to my question. My test kit is for salt/fresh water. I'm kind of confused about the readings because it (API kit) on the directions lists both GH and KH but the bottle says KH only? The directions give for both GH and KH with the number of drops equaling the same range for both. I...

Here are my stats as of this morning and a 2/3 water change last night:
Sg- 0.005
ammonia- 0
pH- 8
KH/GH- 71.6
Temp- 79.6
How's this sound for F8's and Bumblebee gobies? I'm concerned the KH/GH is too low. How do I fix this if that's the case?
