Thank you, it all means a lot. Don't think I've ever worked so hard to keep a fish alive. D'you think there could be a connection between the snails and Diddy's diseases? Can they carry anything harmful to the fish? They've really gotten under my skin. Even though I'm reluctant, I can't keep away fr...

Diddy update
Ok, here's an update, rather sad. Diddy got progressively worse and died last night. I checked water parameters as I did every week, and they were fine: pH 7.8, nitrIte 0, ammonia 0 and nitrAte 5.0. Since the fungus I had been doing partial (50%+) water changes, after my last post I removed all plan...

More problems.... (HELP!)
Sorry for doing this, copying from another thread, I just think this might be missed as a reply in my fungus thread and I'm extremely concerned about the little fella..... Update: The fungus may have disappeared, but now he's bumping into things, swimming around in a stupor. I've read a few threads ...

Update: The fungus may have disappeared, but now he's bumping into things, swimming around in a stupor. I've read a few threads on here, asking if their puffer's gone blind. He's swimming almost as if stoned, crashing into the plants, thermometer etc then carrying on as if nothing's happened. ETA: h...

Fungus on eye
Hi, my GSP has suddenly developed fungus on one eye - virtually overnight. The only new things in the tank are the snails I've given him. He's had no new plants recently, and obviously no tank mates. I'm treating with Protozin, but it's looking really nasty. Other than that he's swimming fine and st...

And another question....
 A couple of days ago I mentioned seeing a dark band appear down the length of Diddy's body. Next day it had faded. Anyway, I'm now wondering if it's a sort of camouflaging technique. The tank is pretty light: light substrate, light plants, light....light. But a dark fake root system. I've jus...

Thanks Tihsho and Lisa. I've certainly had a crash course in puffers  My other half thinks I'm mad - every time he comes in from work I'm doing a water change. My hydrometer arrived today, so I think I'll pick up some marine salt and begin changing him to brackish this weekend (don't worry, I'v...

Thanks Lisa. I've no idea what the other circumstances were, or what the size of the bowl was. I'm not surprised we lost the F8 so quickly - it was either a shock to the system, or he'd just gone beyond the point of no return. He was a fair bit smaller than Diddy, and thinner too. Very much hoping t...
