Re: Fahaka size in relation to it's age?

Just seen this info on a fish info site: Size: upto 18" (45cm), but usually smaller in the aquaria - aprox 10"-12"(25cm-30cm) When I look on youtube, the vast majority seem to be upto 12" big, very rare to see any in the 14"-18" range. Does this mean that the growth rat...

Fahaka size in relation to it's age?

Hi, Not sure if this has been asked before, if so can you point me in the right direction. I've read that Fahakas grow about an inch per month for the first 12 months, is this true? Then, how quickly do they grow after the first 12 months? (ie. 1 inch every 2 months/ 6 months/ 12 months) And what wa...

Re: Whats the best way to transport LR

Yes it is cured, its from a tank that is beeing closed down. I will be getting around 40kg, it's for a 450 ltr tank. I've got plenty of buckets, some with lids, not sure if the LR needs to be totaly submerged in water, or in just a little bit of water in the bucket, or just wrapped in wet towels/pap...

Do all puffers do this?

I would like to get another puffer with the same personalities, other than a white spotted and a dog face, would like to find if any othe...

Re: White-Spotted and dog-face together, possible?

I went into a fish shop today who deal with a lot of puffers, and asked if you could put 2 dog-face puffers together? They said as long as they were small and put into the tank at the same time, with a minimum tank size of 450 litres then everything would be ok!!!! Will these people tell you anythin...

Re: White-Spotted and dog-face together, possible?

I did not think you could keep to large puffers together, but when a so called expert writes in a book that more than one can be kept in the same tank. Can also be kept with other Arothron spp, you start to question all that you have lernt. How can people get away with writing stuff like this.

Pufferpunk wrote:Which species are you calling the "white spotted"?
Arothron hispidus = whitespotted

Arothron Nigropunctatus = Blackspotted puffer ( this is the one the book says you can keep more than one!!! I called it the dog-face puffer)

Re: Hi, ready to start again, I think!!!

:? They are 2 types of marine puffers, White-Spotted puffer and a dog-face puffer. :? My fish marine book says that the dog-face puffers are Rarely aggressive, and more than one can be kept in the same tank. Can also be kept with other Arothron spp, except more-aggressive forms. Just trying to find ...

Re: White-Spotted and dog-face together, possible?

In the pocket expert guide by Scott W.Michael it says that the blackspotted puffer is Rarely aggressive, and more than one can be kept in the same tank. Can also be kept with other Arothron spp, except more-aggressive forms. :? I find this info verry misleading :? I have seen videos of tanks with 2 ...

White-Spotted and dog-face together, possible?

Hi,
Can I put a White-Spotted and a dog-face together, all the books say you can, however, if there is the slightest chance they might fight then it will be just a one puffer tank.

If it would work what size tank would be best?
