Sexual maturity is at 2-3 years, so maybe that is what encouraged growth.
Ah! I think it is. Getting big quick! Going to get him his first Fiddler crab today :)

GSP Growth

Hey, folks! I made a lot of topics about this before about my GSP not growing. I got him on May 22, 2010: Just about 3 years ago. He didn't grow at all, and now he seems to be growing quite quickly: Anyone else experience this? No growth for almost 3 years, and now he's finally getting bigger :D ~ J...

Aiptasia

Hello! I have a 55 gallon aquarium with 1 adult Green Spotted Puffer, I never knew it was Aiptasia, and it has been there for a very long time, but there's Aiptasia growing all over my live rock. Every single piece, and some pieces are larger than the puffer himself. Is Aiptasia dangerous? I am awar...

2 years later, GSP not growing.

I have made a thread about this before, I got my Green Spotted Puffer when he was about 1.5". This was over two years ago. Now, he is 3" and has not grown in a very long time. He gets a PWC once a week, eats daily and lives alone in a 55 gallon with an adequate filter, protein skimmer and ...

Re: Skimmer

What is a good protein skimmer? A thirty gallon tank does not call for a protein skimmer. I don't use protein skimmers in anything less than a 50g. If i have a 30G what is a good size sump do i need? It depends on the species, is it a strict reef tank? Perhaps 10G. Can you use canister filter for a ...

Re: min tank size?

Arothron immaculatus should not be kept in anything less than a 180 IMO. Many recommend 150, though I feel that more width than is provided in a 150 for overall turning radius is beneficial. I wouldn't go with anything less than a 150, however. Good luck.

Beautiful tank and puffer, Xray! Bacon seems to be a very happy puffer. Do you have plans to upgrade down the line/switch tanks? 8)

Re: Young GSP's in full marine?

What size was it when you moved it into full marine? Approx. 2, perhaps 2.5". Did the fish survive? Yes. How long was it in full marine? About 8 months of 1.022 SG and counting. How large did it grow, and how fast? I I am very confused about his growth. He seems to be stuck at 3" long, 2&q...

He has a large HOB filter, Protein Skimmer and live rock as well as a small clean up crew that he hasn't eaten yet *hermit crabs* :)

Re: GSP not growing.

Lol PP :)

He's about 3 inches long and 2 inches wide. I guess I have to accept the fact that he's a smaller version, or perhaps I should feed him a pound of shrimp ;)
