Re: Valentini Puffer - white spot/scar on fins

Just by way of an update and thanks to everyone for their advice. The hypo worked and cleared the ich and the stock (including my favourite - the Valentini (of course)) are doing fine back in the display tank and thriving. I've learnt a lot but mainly how savage whitespot can be, it's relentless and...

Valentini puffer and largish shrimps

I inherited a few shrimps into my display tank, they're standard cleaner shrimps and I'm thinking of adding my valentini (about 2 inch) from it's QT tank back into the DT.

Will the puffer automatically go for the shrimps or is there a chance it will just ignore them?

Re: Valentini Puffer - white spot/scar on fins

By way of update.

Just running now at 0.009 with the puffer doing really well and now eating more than ever :D

Just 8 weeks to go in the QT, let's hope he doesn't go stir crazy!!

Re: Reef safe valentini puffer?

Thanks for the replies so far and also fixing the video.

It's predominantly on that fin although there are smaller specs on the others. I can't see anything untoward on his body, that all seems normal.

Re: Reef safe valentini puffer?

Also, I would appreciate if someone could confirm the ailment. Here's a video of the puffer.

For some reason the youtube embed doesn't work?? link here --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zxZ0El5A5Fw

Thanks,

Larry.

Reef safe valentini puffer?

Just wondered if anyone had any experience of valentini puffers and their partiality to LPS corals (and perhaps some sps). I have one in a reef tank and i've never seen him nip a coral but over the last few months a few LPS (torch, acans and duncans) are all struggling in my tank. Perhaps coincidenc...

Re: Valentini Puffer - white spot/scar on fins

Just a small update. The puffer seems more active this morning, having leisurely swims around every so often and has fed twice this morning. He still has "grains" on his fin. Although it's a puffer forum, best not forget my Pyjama Carindal :D (he was my first ever fish) he's active and eat...

Re: Valentini Puffer - white spot/scar on fins

Yeah, a complete pain. Lost a few nice frags but nothing that I can't replace really. The priority is the fish. Looking at the two in the QT tank they are looking rather sorry for themselves. Keep telling myself that i've done the right thing and had I just left them in the tank they wouldn't have s...

Re: Valentini Puffer - white spot/scar on fins

I only have one other fish in the DT, a goby which I'm currently attempting to trap too.

Although I understand that to break the cycle even 1 is 1 too many.
