Re: Clown Triggers

Anyone have a clown trigger with their puffer? I really want to add one, and think it will be my next addition. Clown triggers become SUPER aggressive. There is one at this LFS I frequent that will bite at your fingers outside of the tank or attack the sponge as you attempt to clean the tank. My S&...

Re: First Marine Tank

Yep--you should be sure it is cured (put it in a bucket) before adding it to your tank. Ahh cooking rocks; so much fun. Basically put your rocks in a covered bucket, keep a heater in there to keep the temp stable, with a power head or two, water change every week for 2 - 4 weeks and VOILA nicely cu...

Re: Is my porcupine puffer just weird?

Fish like people all have different personalities. I have a blue line puffer that will greet and let me pet it in the office, but if a specific co-worker comes by when I'm feeding the tank it spits at him when I open the canopy; it's hillarious!

Re: valentini puffer care

the clowns are around 1 and a half years old, they are clearly foremed as male and female now, i have yet to see them spwan You can help them along with a specific lighting regimen that mimics they're light. What are you doing for them in terms of lighting? and +1 on what PP said, your cube is full...

Re: Clownish bodyslamming porky puffer!

Clarkii's, Maroon (AKA Feeding Phirana's!), Tomato clowns are some of the most aggressive fish I've ever seen. They are potecting they're nest. That nest is there and they will always try to spawn there. Either the Porky gets smart, the clowns get moved, he gets tired and kills them or he gets dead....

Re: Advice for Biocube

keep using the RO if you're going to keep corals and don't want to battle hair algae blooms. I don't usually disagree with PP but this one I'm gong to have to. The LR will be a detritus trap just as much in the chambers unless cleaned regularly; happened to me in my 14g Biocube. I keep a home made e...

Re: I too got GSP's from WalMart!!HELP please!!?

A Few things Greenpuffer: 1) Juvinile GSPs change color when they're sleeping, so don't be alarmed, they perk up and turn into their normal color when the lights come on and they are fed; they also change color when they're hunting their food. 2) Aquarium Salt does not equal marine salt. You want to...

Re: Reef tank setup

Even without the idividual reflectors he'll do okay with Leathers, mushrooms, zoas, polyps and some LPS. What are you using for filtration? For a nano of your size without a sump I'd get an Aquaclear 30, sponge in chamber one, liverock or that super porous rock material they give you and the small b...

Re: What are these?

They look like button polyps. Turn the rock around and expose it to light, and see how it looks. I'm talking about the 3 round things on my LR. They are rust colored and have TINY tentacles around the edge. I know it's not a good pic but they are on the underside of a rock. They are bowl-shaped. htt...

+1 Especially if you want to keep corals and don't want to deal with the eventual hair algae out break.

Re: Brown Diatom algae

Drj it's the last stage of your cycling process. You get a large diatom bloom, it'll be gone in give or take a week. i have only been in SW conditions for about 3 weeks i think. Anyways my base rock appears to be growing brown diatom algae on it. Is this ok because everything i have heard is that br...
