Re: storm of the century...or at least a decade
Be very glad you didn't get the storm Flutter!! For most of the areas affected it wasn't as bad as they made it sound like it was going to be. The heavy rain didn't last long where I am but we have insane wind. But by my dad's house on Lake Michigan trucks were blown into trees, barns were leveled &...

storm of the century...or at least a decade
So here in the Midwest we are currently being beaten by a crazy storm w/ 60mph winds, tornadoes, heavy rain, etc. I'm worried the power will go out. Last time a storm like this hit about 10 years ago, people here in Michigan were w/o power for several days. We live in an apartment complex so running...

Re: How do you feed your Congo (miurus)?
Our Congo (also unnamed, but I dig the name 'Tater'!!) has been a very strange fish to feed. At first he would ONLY eat live fish. Then I got him eating thawed jumbo shrimp (not the whole thing obviously, our dude/dudette is only about an inch & a half) by slowly wiggling it in the water so thos...

Re: marbled crays and betta
We have had good results keeping fish with them. The fish seem to pick up the food the crays don't find. Water quality has been better since we overhauled the cray tanks and added fish. Keep in mind this advice is for marbled (self cloning) crays. They are quite a bit more peacefull than some of the...

Re: marbled crays and betta
Neons would probably be ok. They'll stay near the top, away from the crays...and if one gets caught, they're not super expensive to replace. The only fish we've lost to crays are bottom dwelling, slightly bossy cichlids.

Re: any 1 had much luck keeping
Also, I saw f8's & gsp's kept together at a LFS...the f8's tortured the gsp's! Even though they were smaller, after a week we convinced them to separate the f8's from gsp's. The f8's seemed to be ok w/ each other after that.

Re: marbled crays and betta
We keep swordtails with our marbled crays. And a couple platys. The fish are quick enough & I've never noticed any signs of them being pinched or anything by the crays.

Re: growth rate on gsps
I don't know how long it takes for all gsp's...I have 3 & all look different (their spots aren't the same, at all). But the one we've had the longest, 6 months, (he/she has oddly shaped spots) has grown 1/2 an inch since we've had him/her.

That is quite impressive! Last time we moved a bunch of our livebearers died, this time we did something right b/c everything is still alive. Woo hoo!

Re: gsp mad at me?
This probably isn't the answer you're looking for but I find that my puffs...except the fahaka, he's never picky...go through phases. For example, my Congo puffer used to be ALL OVER thawed shrimp - now he won't even look at it. My gsp's were the same way when we started feeding them on thawed shrim...

Re: Hoping I do not have a reason to be worried...
Haha, yes. That is so true! This time its the test kit, ice cube trays & measuring cups! Not quite as expensive as a drill, and probably less annoying. I hope you don't move as much as we do...that would a be a LOT of money spent on drills... We are also sufferers of MTS, and the fish were also ...
