thanks for trying to help everyone. he didnt make it. the sores looked much worse when i took him out of the tank then they did yesterday. i definately think it was the problem and i was thinking that it was bacterial (although i dont really know too much about fish disease). wish i had a camera so ...

i know that some people feed peas to their fish for constipation. but i cant imagine him eating a pea. and actually plants do like epsom salts. epsom salts are magnesium sulfate and i dose it every week. i'll start to search for ways to medicate but like you said it would be really awesome to get so...

lol. i was just reading your thread about me that the planted tank. when he is out, he's looking for food. otherwise he sits back in the plants and waits for me. that was the first indicator that something was wrong because he was right out in the open. so since he is partially hidden i cant tell if...

ip huh. interesting. i keep red wigglers in a worm composter. that's where my worms come from. i havent added any new worms since i set it up either but i suppose that its possible that something could have come in with some flies or something. could i put him in quarintine and treat with fenbendazo...

when keeping softwater plants such as erios, toninas and syngonanthus you need to have softwater. when it comes out of the tap higher than you need it, its easier to keep my levels where they need to be. in my tanks with your everyday plants like rotalas and such i use regular tap. these are pygmy c...

go to other forums like theplantedtank.net, or aquariumcentral.com

in other forums, some people consider them pests, as opposed to here where they are food. you can usually get people to send you handfulls of them for just the price of shipping. i do it all the time for my puffer and loaches

i paid $80 for mine. twice. i had one that died on me two.

there was a local guy that worked for a lfs that bought 4 for himself personally and i got him to sell me the first one. he didnt seem too thrilled about letting go of the second one
