Re: gsp and coral

I have my GSP, Spot in with; xenia, colt, kenya tree, chalices, acans, toadstool, mushroom and had a bird's nest till it got RTN and he hasn't bothered any of them. Mine may not be a typical GSP as he doesn't bother my CUC of snails and a hermit, nor does he even try for the pistol shrimp or any oth...

Re: Any success with having tankmates for GSP?

So far I've had great success with tank mates in both FW and SW with my GSP. But my GSP is no longer interested in shrimp or snails....I have seen him bite sand (my guess, to wear his teeth down). Spot's currently in with a yellow tail damsel, a o. clown, a bangaii cardinal a mated pair of mandarins...

Re: Young GSP's in full marine?

Hi all, I'm back to check in... What size was it when you moved it into full marine? About 1.5-1.75" Did the fish survive? Yes How long was it/is it in full marine? 8 months and counting How large did it grow, and how fast? It's now nearly 4" Did you notice any stress, lack of eating, poor...

Re: Young GSP's in full marine?

mmmmm....from what I've heard/read I thought the platies did better in brackish water.

Could always put the mollies I have in with Spot...at least they won't steal his blood worms and seafood.

Re: Young GSP's in full marine?

Yeah I was planning on pulling all the fully freshwater fish out ...although they are used to some salt.
Can leave the bumblebee gobies, the dragon/violet goby, the platies and the GSP for the higher SG.

And yes I sooo want an refractometer.

Re: Young GSP's in full marine?

Oh and it wont be much of a cycle am either buying pre cured wet rock or rock from an established aquarium that some one in my area is breaking down. Is what I did with the 10G and it barely had a cycle...hit only .25 for an amonia spike (that I saw) and that was it.

Re: Young GSP's in full marine?

Yeah I want to wait that and a clean up crew wouldn't be safe around him....so don't know what I'd do. The SG I'm not too sure of my hydrometer kinda sucks and is hard to tell if is at the 1.012 mark or not. I know my older blackskirt tetra & rosie barb can handle a higher SG because dummy me di...

Re: Young GSP's in full marine?

I have a 2.5-3" GSP in a 38 gallon weakly brackish tank that seems to be doing well and since I'm doing slow peaceful fish in my 46 I think I should leave him in the 38G because he loves the space and interesting decor. The only other tank I have is a mere 10 gallons and will soon be home to 2 ...
