The LFS said I could drop the salinity raise the heat and add 2 big air stones. They said if I raised the heat for 2 weeks it would kill it and I wouldn't need to drop the salinity past 16

Re: cocoons on my rock
Please don't raise the temp for treating SW "ich". The parasite attacks their gills & it'll be hard enough for them to breath, never mind lessening the O2 content when you raise the heat in there. H=For hypo you must have the SG at 1.009. You're not doing this in your main tank, are y...

Re: cocoons on my rock
Btw, is it true that bristle worms are not supposed to be eaten by puffers? I ask because a gluttonous dogface we had at the store when I was a pet shop associate loved them, he'd slurp them down fast as any earthworm, but he was the only one we had that ever touched them. I am still nervous to fee...

In Memory of Elegance
She was a good fish... My beautiful Striped Dog face Puffer committed suicide. I couldn't find her yesterday when I went to feed them before the swap but thought maybe she was pouting cause I was late feeding them. But, I moved rocks and never found her. So today I was looking again and I climbed be...

You give me inspiration. I bought the cleaner wrasses to help with the ich but never eliminated it. Just controlled it. I may try this in the future.

Re: Puffer ID and question about teeth
Yep that's a Dog face in it's blue stage. Congrats. and it will probably stay that color since they usually don't change stages in aquarium life. He/she was probably captured in that stage. Probably older guy/gal. Beautiful!

Re: What's your puffer's name?
My Striped Dog Face is named Elegance due to the silver grey color and the stripes and how "she" looks while swimming
My Stars and Stripes is named Joey (by my son) after my cousin who is in the army in afghanistan.

Re: Puffer ID and question about teeth
Dog faces go through a blue phase and you said he was old. Maybe U lucked up and got one in the blue phase which is generally an older phase. If U did they tend to stay what ever color phase they are in when put into aquarium so he/she will probably stay that way. http://www.saltwateradvice.com/.../...
