Re: I get my new tank tomorrow
Congratulations bud! I love setting up a new tank. Best of luck to you and look forward to seeing the pics. If you need any help with the sump, I am by no means an expert, but I just finished a DIY sump so I may be able to help you with some advise on problems I ran into.

Re: does your puffer freak out at lights out?
Mine seem to actually look forward to bedtime. When I start shutting down the lighting they happily roost up in the LR. I also go from the 10k + actinic to just the actinic for about a half hour before shutting them all the way down.

Re: Crushed Shell for Substrate?
Not really I just liked the looks of it. Some of it is very small sized (not much bigger than sand) and with the redish pink tint I thought it would look nice in the tank. The added buffering would have just been a bonus.Pufferpunk wrote:Are you having problems with buffering your water?

Crushed Shell for Substrate?
I currently use the Caribsea oolite(? spelling) live sand for my substrate and it works out ok but, it does blow around a little. I was at the beach today and there is spots where the shells have gotten smashed so much that they are just bigger than sand and even feel soft to the touch. Obviously th...

Re: Planting my Tanks...
I am very interested to see how this turns out and listen to the input that people have to offer. I am attempting to plant a 30 gallon now. I spend a lot of time with my marine tank so I do not have a ton extra to really get technical with the FW. I am on well water so there is plenty of phosphates ...

Re: pond pump in tank?
That is how I have my sump set up. I have a half inch pipe that is 17" long with an end cap and 8 1/4 holes in it going from the back to the front of the tank under the lip for my return. The pump is a pump from a pond and with the tube set up like this it seems to disperse the water well. Make...

Re: What happened to you today :)
I got my PC lighting working properly :D and I also finally found out that I am getting a house that I been trying for. The new house has an extra bedroom that the wife is allotting to me for the fish  and I will also have a two and a half car garage for the :rimshot: and the motorcycle. Tod...

I too am another lucky one. My GSP's will all eat whatever I put in the tank. I am not sure there is anything the little heffers wouldn't eat.

Petstore.com
I just want to take a second and give a quick mention to some great customer service. I often find myself thinking that customer service is a thing of the past and a recent dealing on Ebay has proven my wrong. So I purchased a actinic bulb from petstore.com's ebay shop. The bulb was a good name bran...

Re: Another lighting question...
I tried Google & couldn't find anything. Sorry--I wish I could remember the name of the site I bought that off of. You are the one that gave me the sight for that listed a Deep Blue 03 bulb. I am wondering if the bulb stamp is meaning just that? It is a real deep blue color so that would make s...
