Re: Help needed with snail breeder tank
How do I make sure my snails are clean and healthy?? From what i've found, the big pet stores are my only source for snails. I can't remember where I read it, I think it was on aquariacentral.com or monsterfishkeepers.com, but my wife and I both read this topic and that was the first thing we both ...

I've heard some people use nori sheets for fish, but never for snails. I"m gonna give this a try!

Snail Recipes
There has been some mention of snail recipes in various posts on these forums. I thought I would post this for all of you raising snails for our beloved puffers' diets. I tried doing a search for recipes on this forum and all i got were some links so I thought I would combine it into one. I, in no w...

Re: Help needed with snail breeder tank
I've had my snail tank for a few weeks now in a 1G ice cream pail from safeway, and am in the process of moving it to a larger tank. I'll share with you some of my experiences and hopefully they can help you out. One thing i'd like to mention and suggest is to be aware of where your snails come from...

I have to see if I can find my Oxyclean, just in case I don't have oxyclean. Any suggestions on what else to use?

Re: Cleaning OLD Sponge Filters
Oxyclean!? Really? I never would have guessed that stuff would be safe for aquarium use! I've been reading on the net about using lemon juice, vinegar, salt, bleach, etc etc. I would never have guessed Oxyclean! Obviously i'll use a decholorinator and rinse with hot water for quite a bit afterwards,...

Cleaning OLD Sponge Filters
I was able to pick up 2 old 10G with heaters, lids and sponge filters from a breeder. These tanks have been sitting around for awhile and need some serious scrapping, scrubbing and cleaning. I would like to know what is the best way to clean out the sponge filters. The sponges are still "sponge...

NP, hope the info helps. Anacharis also known as Elodea. Try plantgeek.net or plantedtank.net for more plant info. You can always get a fake plant like me, it works great for me. Snail Jelly = Home made snail food. I tried it out the other day and WOW!!! My snails ate it all up and are probably goin...

Re: Snail tank
I don't need a filter as long as I do an 80% change every week. I changed the water last week with a syphoning hose which I don't think is a good idea because I will be just sucking up eggs too, if there were any. How do you change the water? From my experience with breeding snails, You do not need...

Re: Moving Common Pond & Rams Horn Snail Eggs
I was just thinking of trying a different way to maintain their tank. I do 80-90% water changes every 2 days because i'm still waiting for some of my equipment to arrive in the mail (Sponge filter is one of the things i'm waiting for :( plus i'm on a very tight budget right now) I'm sure you all kno...

Moving Common Pond & Rams Horn Snail Eggs
I am curious if anyone has any special tricks/techniques for moving the "clear, gooey" egg sacks that common pond and rams horn snails produce. I'm considering moving these snail egg sacks to a "hatchery" to help with tank maintenance. I've been scouring the net for a few hours a...

Re: Snail tank
...I read previously you need java moss but it was $30 for a tiny piece attached to a rock. There was no way I was going to pay that much for a bit of moss and a rock. Do you suggest something else? I did purchase another type but I can't remember what it is. It's kinda hard and I just leave it flo...
