Re: hey guys :)

so when i go to cure it and get rid of all dead stuff inside, should i put straight tap water in there? or should i add prime and act as if its going into a fish tank? setting up the tank is still a ways away, so the rock will be sitting for a while before being put in use but i would like to get th...

Re: hey guys :)

Re: GSP PICTURES!

very nice and healthy looking puffers! @pufferme!: puffers are suggested to be kept in their own tanks mainly because of their aggression, especially when they become mature. they can become more aggressive with age. its best to start them together as juveniles, even more preferrably start them in a...

Re: URGENT - Help needed

cycle is one of the "bacteria in a bottle" products that pet stores recommend but can actually harm more than help. i believe "dr. tims" and tetra safe start have been ones that have proven to work. i used to use cycle as well, until i was told the only thing i needed to add was prime to new water. ...

Re: GSP has become shy

+1 all above. i had my air stone hidden under some decor and every few minutes it would release a larger bubble that built up. even though it was happening regularly, the puffer never liked it so i moved the air stone a bit more away so it didnt get trapped. after that the puffer was fine. air stone...

Treated them for IP just in case.
how many treatments are you doing each time you have medicated them? hopefully more than just once, this time and the prior time you treated. only once wouldnt be enough IMO

Re: MFK - My oscar can't breath help

i know its hard to take a picture of a fish, but does your camera or phone have a "burst shot" mode? where it will take a few quick pictures of a moving object? if not hopefully you can try to get a more in focus shot so someone can help. or try google images for "gill parasite" or something that de...

Re: Diodontidae vs Tetraodontidae Behavior

basically there can and most likely will be differences in behavior from one GSP to another GSP, and the same with any puffer. you could have one that is vicious, or is more docile. they also get more aggressive when sexually mature, so you may have one that is docile at first, but can turn into a k...

Re: Francis has Dropsy

not to jump in this nice conversation, but ultimately me doing a water change was the demise of my GSP. he freaked out and ingested air while thrashing around, and this wasnt the only time he freaked out while doing a change, he freaked out almost every time i touched the inside of the tank. imo it ...

Re: feeding time..

looks like a good dinner! make sure to freeze them though to kill off any nasty parasites or something that might harm the puffer. then soak in tank water with vitamin supplement for a while(some people soak overnight while its sitting in the fridge), good to go :D you can also try crab legs and sca...

Re: EEL's and what else?

pretty much what everyone has said so far +1. a good way to provide hiding spots would be pvc piping or clear tubing. i have seen on youtube a really cool setup where someone put the tubes down in the sand making a whole passageway for the eel, was pretty awesome!
