Re: Monotrete Abei or Monotrete Bailyi?

That's cool! Not in my eyes but that's cool. I thought that you were joking around with: I hope not in the same tank .... Because everyone isn't a nOOb and my profile lists: Tetraodon miurus, Congo Puffer Colomesus asellus, South America Puffers Tetraodon palembangensis, Dragon Puffer Tetraodon ery...

I read somewhere that you aren't supposed to boil wood and can't remember why.

kinda remember something about breaking down cell walls ...

Re: Juvenile Congo Puffer Food

Yes, I did try mussels and she did not bite. Typically for my problem feeders, I soak the food FD shrimp in garlic extract, I don't see how simply rubbing them will garlic will last more than a second or two. So far I have been giving her guppy fry and baby crays and am trying to source out gammarus...

I like your sand!! Looks so soft.

It is the 3M S grade, supposedly perfectly spherical. It would feel great to roll around in thousands of little balls wouldn't it.

Re: Monotrete Abei or Monotrete Bailyi?

I hope not in the same tank. And yes I did. Great guy to deal with. However, I think I got his only or last hairy puffer. arrg, I hope he has more. You don't think they will work in my puffer tank: Tetraodon miurus, Congo Puffer Colomesus asellus, South America Puffers Tetraodon palembangensis, Dra...

Re: Juvenile Congo Puffer Food

She came dark and that's the only colour that I have seen her wear, so far. I only have had her since Thursday at noon and she was still in the wholesalers bag when I picked her up, so those are her Florida colours. I am guessing that she will lighten up to match my peach sand, but once she gets set...

yah, she is smaller than I expected, even though I was told about an inch.

I tracked the wholesaler down and connected with a local retailer and paid $65 Canadian. They both probably added a few points, but I am happy to have her

Re: Juvenile Congo Puffer Food

I have tried black worms, and she looked it them and swam away. live bait is illegal here, for fishing and bigger isn't really better in this case. I found two week old crickets which are considerably lager than a pin head, but it was not noticed or ignored. tomorrow I will hit the LFS for juvenile ...

You will have to look closely, she has blended in quite well with my substrate. It was the last of the 3M S grade, they said peach and I thought peach skin .... Here is a quick shot I got of her, that is a 3and 3/4 in pot in the background: http://www8.speedyshare.com/files/20500934/download/CP2.jpg...

Juvenile Congo Puffer Food

what is the best staple food for juvenile (under 1") congo puffers, CBW?

I have never feed black worms before, so they won't burrow into the sand?

I tried a couple of baby crays, but he/she just watched as it walked past it's nose.

Snails aren't an option either are they?

Re: Monotrete Palembangensis - clean up crew needed

But I am a notorious nit-picker... The accepted genus name for this fish is Tetraodon , not Monotretus . and the species name is lower case, palembangensis , even though it includes a person's name (Palembang's puffer). HTH well I wouldn't try and type latin from memory, so I cut and pasted from he...
