Re: Tankmates....
We modified the auto feeder, it wasn't dropping tons, just 2 shrimp a day or so. And I use a liquid kit, I shake the bottles and titrate just like in chemistry.... I didn't do it right before I moved him but I did it after the last water change I did and it seemed fine. I will go ahead and do anothe...

Re: Tankmates....
I have a whisper in tank filter, I think it's a large? I hadn't done a good water change in over a month just because I had been out of town and super busy, but I just did a huge one when I moved the tank back to my place. When I tested all my parameters were good so I didn't think to write them dow...

Tankmates....
I have a figure 8 puffer that I've had for...I guess about a year now. He's been all alone for almost that entire period. He used to be so friendly and curious, but then I went away for the summer. My boyfriend kept the tank going for me, but with just an automatic feeder and nothing more. I changed...

Re: Worried about F8
I put in another random one, I need to go to walmart later anyway, I'll pick up some more while I'm there. He did find the string attatched to the magnetic glass cleaner thingy and is swimming around it and through the loop it made

Re: Worried about F8
I did it like a year ago. When I first planned on getting a puffer. But at the time I planned on a GSP which are much more brackish, so my hydrometer worked fine. Then I had to lower the salinity after getting these guys instead and realising they require much lower salinity. So.... Yeah. I am not s...

Re: Worried about F8
Thing is I never really knew. I still don't have a good hydrometer ok, so normally it says to add 1/2 cup for every gallon, and that should make it 1.02. I want 1.005, so I'm adding 1/2 cup for every 4 gallons. I'm just sort of completely guessing. This week I am driving to Monroe to get to a petsto...

Re: Worried about F8
OK, so, in order to get my salinity right, now that I've dumped about 75% of the water so far......
About how much instant ocean would you guess I might need?

Re: Worried about F8
Also adding that I have a large whisper filter.
So since my parameters are off, how big a water change should I do?

Re: Worried about F8
yes, I've been using stresscoat as a declorinator, I usually add a little more than the recommended for just dechlorinating. I have been trying to feed him, he just ignores his food. I dont have anything to give him other than shrimp and sniails and bloodworms, I'll try bloodworms again but even whe...

Re: Worried about F8
ph 7.7 ish, it was sort of close to the 7.4.... I assume I'm supposed to be using salt water ph test, even though my salinity is low.... kh 7 drops (so my CO2 content is off, not sure how to fix this. It says that for 7 drops and 7.75 pH, the CO2 concentration in mg/l is 4. But for 7.5 pH it's 7, wh...

Re: Worried about F8
1) Your water parameters - pH, Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrates and salinity (if appropriate). This is by far the most important information you can provide! Do not answer this with "Fine" "Perfect" "ok", that tells us nothing. We need hard numbers. working on this now 2) Tan...

Worried about F8
Poor thing. Scooty Puff has been throguh a lot. When I first got him and another, the tank was too salty and his tank mate died. But I managed to save him. Then we noticed he had a lump on his side, that looked like a nematode. Then one day recently it started peeling off, and now it's gone complete...
