Re: Clipping beaks? How far do you go?

http://www.thepufferforum.com/forum/library/hospital/dentistry/ Right....thanks for the link, I've read it a few times, but it still doesn't answer some of my questions. "Peel back the net to expose the puffer’s head and teeth. Clip straight across and as short as feasible"~~~~~this is th...

Re: Clipping beaks? How far do you go?

Well my Avocado puffer don't have overgrown teeth, its lips could be completely closed when it's not trying to chase me and beg me for food.

But despite not having an overgrown teeth, he still has that sharp pointed beak, I feel like he won't eat the same way once I clip it flat y'know.

Clipping beaks? How far do you go?

For those owners who have performed dentistry, do you clip the entire pointed tip, making the whole upper and lower beaks flat? And when it is clipped entirely, does the beak grow out pointed or flat? I have never done dentistry before so I have no idea what to expect. Does it really benefit the puf...

Re: whats your fav puffer & why?

Avocado puffer (Modestus). At first I didn't like their look, because they are more streamlined and their tails doesn't fold all the way like others. But after a few days of taking care of it, I found out just how cool it is 8) I didn't even think they could puff :? I've always wanted a puffer that ...

Re: Modestus Puffer care and feeding

Well I decided to take one back to my friend, I don't think I'm ready for a 40 gallon tank yet. Maybe someday :? Thanks again for the offer PolishPuff. PufferPunk, I'll send you a PM concerning the Finquel. I bought a heater for a 30 gallon tank, but it's hard to test it with AC on since the weather...

Re: Modestus Puffer care and feeding

Oh cool you guys are from Chicago too. Thanks for the offers guys, PufferPunk how much are you selling Finquels for? Polish Puff, I'm very interested in buying that 40 gallon breeder how much is it? :D I'm not sure where she bought it, I usually go to Ocean Design Aquarium down at Irving Park, the o...

Modestus Puffer care and feeding

Well I just adopted 2 modestus puffers, one is about 2" and the other about 1.5." I got them from a friend who had them in a 10gal tank with 7 neon tetras, she didn't like them after they killed 3 of them :( . They are currently in a planted 20L cycled tank (but reading from other topics h...

Re: Red poop and vitamin water

It's KENT Marine "Zoe." I believe it is the same product that Rengnath is talking about on General Discussion forum. Link: http://www.thepufferforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=20615 He pretty much stated everything that is on the bottle. Do you have any other brand names of Vitamin ...

Re: Red poop and vitamin water

Thanks for the replies guys :D I read the bottle and it doesn't indicate that it's either for freshwater or saltwater. The taste might be too strong for my red eye though. I soaked it w/ the vitamin water overnight and she spat most of the worms out. After a while she did eat all of it though. I'll ...

Red poop and vitamin water

While I was watching my red-eye, I noticed that her poop is red. I believe she ate one of my cherry shrimps, but I also fed her some bloodworms soaked in Vitamin water (Zoe by Kent) for the first time. Should I be alarmed by this red poop? Most likely it was the cherry shrimp that made her poop red,...

Re: Need help raising a female lorteti

Well hopefully my red eye won't get ill. I'll be watching the water quality and her diet.

I'm looking at my bloodworm package by Hikari. It's enriched with multivitamins including thiamine mononitrate. I was wondering if Vitamin B1(thiamine) and thiamine mononitrate are the same?

Re: Need help raising a female lorteti

I guess I'm just a bit paranoid since all my DPs died of IPs. On what basis do you make this assumption? This is my point: unless you're a vet or a microbiologist, there's no way you could distinguish internal parasites from, say, a bacterial infection brought about by a compromised immune system. ...

Re: Need help raising a female lorteti

Thanks Neale for the extra info, I guess I'm just a bit paranoid since all my DPs died of IPs. I'm pretty sure I have a lorteti, i found out through this board by looking at pictures of other lortetis. Earthworms are a bit too icky for me and I don't even know where to get them, would you say black ...

Re: Need help raising a female lorteti

Sorry I can't help you in regards to worming treatments because I'm in the UK, however, I have irrubesco, lorteti, salivator and borneensis puffers, and I'm happy to say that mine have done very well with tankmates. I've got corydoras', Rasboras, some sort of gobies (not BB) and I've not seen any p...

Need help raising a female lorteti

I ordered a "true red eye puffer" from aquariumfish.net, thinking it is an irrubesco. A day later it arrived, but it turned out to be a a female lorteti, which is great because either puffers are great :D She's in a 10 gal by herself, until I can afford a 20gallon set up. She's only about ...
