Re: Porcupine Puffer, bring of death

He is gone, in fishy heaven.
Thank you guys for helping me give him a good 2.5 years.
I don't know what happened or why but i think the tanks coming down.
As I don't know what happened all I can blame is myself.

I was really looking forward to the possible 18 years with him

Re: Porcupine Puffer, bring of death

He still runs into the sides of the tank at full force.
His body is getting more red, now he is hardly moving, still breathing heavy and puffing up every little bit.

My dad said go get clove oil or something tomorrow, i am not letting it go till tomorrow

Re: Porcupine Puffer, bring of death

Might have to default to blunt force/decap

Every few minutes he violently flops into rocks and puffs up

Re: Porcupine Puffer, bring of death

I've seen so many things that one says something is humane and one says its not.
The freezer seems a little ruff, but watching him bash his face off rocks every few minutes and puffing up is not going to work well for him either.

No matter what i do he will suffer

Re: Porcupine Puffer, bring of death

Do you have access to anesthetic, or can you get some shipped overnight? I have Finquel and can overnight some to you if you reimburse me the shipping money via PayPal. I can't make it overnight, he is violently smashing his face and eyes off of rocks. I need something to do it now and really don't...

Re: Porcupine Puffer, bring of death

I saw that, I have killed a fish by blunt force, but don't want to do it to micah. I mean come on he's 8 inches long. At this point I have no worry other than euthanizing him, its more painful to watch than to lose. It's going to happen regardless What's the vodka method I am reading? That doesn't s...

Re: Porcupine Puffer, bring of death

Like I said, all of my parameters are spot on like they are supposed to be. He is acting worse now, he just violently went around the tank flopping. I don't think he's going to make it, his fins are turning red instead of the tannish/white color. Almost like too much bloody is being pumped. I'd like...

Re: Porcupine Puffer, bring of death

Absolutely could be. Use ro or distilled water on a 30 % change. Or boil and cool water and use that, see where we are then. There is defo something here we can overcome to save him. Tell us how much lr you have etc. Follow that change with another 30% change quickly and I am certain you will see s...

Re: Porcupine Puffer, bring of death

I'm just not sure, I know he has lived 2.5 years here. But is well water than runs through a water softener that uses salt all that good for fish? The other night I did a water change that brought it down to 1 or 2 inches off the substrate, mixed all the water and got it to temperature and slowly re...

Re: Porcupine Puffer, bring of death

OMG! Those symptoms remind me a bit of nitrite poisoning (it has neurological effects), but obviously that's not the problem. I do think it's neurological, and if it's not nitrite poisoning, I doubt there's much you can do. :( With my home test kit my nitrite came out between 0 and .05 which is suc...

Porcupine Puffer, brink of death

Hey guys, haven't been on in a long time and Micah the puffer has been healthy as can be! I have had in about 2.5 years, no issues! These are older pictures, but you get the idea. http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z449/a7xschecter6661/micah.jpg This is more recent http://i1190.photobucket.com/albu...

Re: Buying second porc puffer!

Right now since Micah is getting so big I am going to upgrade him from his 55 and put him in 100+ and then this little guy will get a 55 all to himself. That's like you living alone in a mansion with your "pet" rocks :D

Not just one beautiful porc, now I will have 2! Maybe someday I will have 32 tanks (and I will make them all porc tanks ^.^)

Buying second porc puffer!

Hey there I am buying my second porc puffer to be my current porcupine puffer, Micah's friend! (separate tanks lol) Got Micah at about 4 inches, he is probably nearing 7-8 now. I just posted a thing a week or so ago about the tiny porc puffer that was at the fish store. But they got another one in. ...

Re: sally light foot crab?

Thats exactly what I thought. I mean he was fine with a lion fish and the crab can get up to 3 inches but still seems like dinner.
I will tell him let me borrow his for a week to see if it works out, if not ill give him the $15 he paid for it for my puffers gourmet meal
