I was under the assumption that puffers weren't eaten as a resource of nourishment only a trend? Wasn't the whole point the lip and tongue numbing effects of the poison (and bragging rights). I dont get it, wouldn't no poison, mean no point.

If there is organic material in your water supply or stuck to the sides of the bucket it would be possible.Sound like it is starting a cycle in the bucket.

I transported a gsp from IL to PA used a 20 dollar black and decker converter from walmart to plug in the heater and air pump.That would be the safest way as long as you trust your heaters thermostat.I did the same as you with tank water just dont let rocks or filter media dry out.

My dwarf puffers usually take bloodworms and blackworms before other foods,they are pretty picky sometimes (mine prefer live black worms and will barely eat anything else since they have had them)
