Re: Marine Ich

He looks wonderful! the fishes eyes are very vibrant (i usually see them with cloudyish eyes or eyes that look like oil in water) and the colors are very distinct. It looks like the fish is all better so I begin the waiting. I want to thank everyone for all the help and I did a few other things I re...

Re: Marine Ich

Yes, it seems to like sitting on top of the sponge filter even though I have those. It was sucking up bubbles and spitting them out the other day. There is definitely enough surface agitation to provide oxygen. More agitation then before it was hypo'd. Water conditions are good. Must be doing it for...

Re: Marine Ich

The ich seems to be getting better but the fish seems miserable in the hypo tank. If no one is there playing with him he just lays on the corner filter or on the ground most of the time. If you come up to the tank he becomes himself again. Im hoping this means it is just a psychological thing. Any c...

Re: Marine Ich

Well we are at 1.013 right now and have been sub-marine salinity for about 24 hours and he is much improved!
Fewer spots and more activity!
When I fed him the day before treatment began he missed each of the mealworms (though it may have been a fluke), didnt happen this time :)

Fish safe tool cleaning?

My recent incident of saltwater ich has got me thinking. I have some tools such as powerheads, hoses, and nets that I use for cleaning and water changing. I do not have a different set for each tank, so I was thinking that disease or micro organism transmission between tanks could be quite the reality...

Re: Marine Ich

Glad it's going well & you decided to keep him. Can't you put the sand into the display tank? Mhm, I just didnt want to transport any stage of ick parasite. I know in theory that in the amount of time till the display tank gets the puffer that the ich will die without a host but the just in cas...

Re: Marine Ich

Ok, little update.
I am halfway to the salinity that the hypo treatment calls for.
The fish seems a little better, it is enjoying playing with the bubbles the corner filter is making

Re: Marine Ich

I spoke with the place I bought him at and they said they had an ick outbreak several days after I purchased him and said that i could exchange him now or bring him back if he dies. Grim.. but I dont want to exchange him so he can sit in the chemical treatment they said they use and die because he i...

Re: Marine Ich

Ok, everything is out of the tank, except heater and the filter box.
What can I do to the sand so I can reuse it as it is pretty nice. Im assuming Ich cannot tolerate very very hot water and then being dried out.

Re: Marine Ich

I hope so. He seems very vigorous and unaffected in his actions. Any word on if my filter box will be good enough of a sponge filter?

Re: Marine Ich

I read about a corner sponge filters.
I have one of these lying around
http://www.school-of-tropical-fish.com/ ... Filter.jpg
I could fill it with sponger or floss and actually have access to some .009/.010 filter media from another tank I could add.

Re: Marine Ich

Thank you.
It is really puzzling me. When I left it looked very clear skinned and when I returned it looked like it had been salted! All within 8 hours. Anything else it could be?

It is still very active and vigorous. Eats like a champ, feces has really improved since the first ones when I got it.

Re: Marine Ich

Yes the filter is just for the temp tank. I have a skimmer on the big tank and have been doing weekly 25 percent changes in the temp tank, the water has kept excellent parameters. My question is this and maybe I missed it in the article. Do I just turn it into .1009 in ten minutes, or do I have to s...
