Re: A begginer puffer for a begginer keeper?

I cant blame you about the whole live shipping thing... I recently got some DPs online as well and one of them was so stressed, he never recovered. :( The other two seem quite happy, though. I've heard of many happy endings coming from live shipping, I think its rare for a fish to ever die during or...

Whats your puffers personality?

We all know pufferfish are famous (or infamous, perhaps?) for their varying personalities. Even though I've had my two (RIP the 3rd one :( ) for only a few weeks, I can definitely see differences between the two. The paler one is very shy and inquisitive. Whenever I rearrange something in the tank, ...

Re: Oh no, it was so sudden!

Yeah, that does make sense, doesn't it... I guess I was too excited for the little girls and I completely forgot. :( Also, is it normal for a puffer to just kinda... chill out near the heater? Ever since I moved the heater to get to the sick one easier, one of them has been utterly fascinated by it!...

I'm not quite sure what a Turkey Baster is... And what I found on google definition wise was disturbing. What is it? :? http://thehostess.files.wordpress.com/2009/03/turkeybastera.jpg Its a pipette-type thing that allows you to suck up/spit out liquids (or anything small enough to fit through the o...

I certainly will. They do seem to be putting on weight, which is good, but I'll keep checking.

Re: Oh no, it was so sudden!

Omg, I just watched him take his last breath. He started gasping, I looked down, and before you know it... he stopped. :(
Hopefully I can spot sickness in a fish faster next time... and though I've lost a cute little thing, at least I learned something out of it...

Re: Oh no, it was so sudden!

Will do, ma'am! Ive been watching him, and i've seen no aggression from the other two. I just isolated him (in a bowl ive never used to eat, totally clean).. and he looks DEATHLY thin! Like he's never eaten at all! I defrosted a small amount of bloodworms, but he doesnt seem to be taking any. His fi...

Oh no, it was so sudden!

One of my DPs seems to be suddenly sick.. the other two look perfectly fine- a bit thin (they were thin when they were delivered, they are now starting to develop their little chubby bellies), but very active and vibrant. He's very dark and listless... he swam by the filter and stuck to it! I had to...

Re: Foam in my tank?

Alright, that makes me feel a tad better. I think I'll do small water changes every day to gradually dilute it a little bit so it doesnt look as silly.
Edit: Or, I can just wait until I do that 50% water change next weekend, durrr.

Re: Foam in my tank?

Whoops, wrong name. I ment SafeStart... StartRight is the name of an old, old water conditioner my family used on a tank we had a LONG time ago... I havent the foggiest as to how I remembered it.

Re: Foam in my tank?

Nope... nothing but the water conditioner, SAFESTART, and the fish themselves have gone into the tank. Its been there ever since I filled the tank with water and started the airstone, and i didn't think much of it.

Foam in my tank?

Its not "fine" foam, the bubbles are pretty big.. but they're accumulating and not popping. Its mostly near where the airstone is, but some foam is accumulating near the filter output. Ive never used anything soap-based to clean anything that has gone into the tank. I dont currently have a...

Re: My fishies came today!

All three of the bags were labeled as "female" (as I requested the two i ordered to be female), but one of them actually looks more like a male (more prominant stripes, the other two are more "bulgey" and spotty, etc). The other two definitely look female.

Re: My fishies came today!

Would I be able to squeeze any Otos in there as well (after algae has been established, of course), or since theres an extra DP in there should I stay away from 'em because of aggression or bioload? They seem to be getting used to the tank alright- they seem to have stopped glass-pacing and they're ...

Re: Have we helped you help your puffer?

My GSP now has a happy, healthy home.
I'll probably be picking up a TPF notebook or 2- I definitely need a dayplanner now, and my financial aid reimbursement is coming back soon so I'll have a lot of extra money floating around (after paying up for books and supplies, of course!)
