Re: Scary purple fungus-thing
I had a friend down the hall come in and take a look last night (she keeps a few SW tanks at home and works at her father's fish store), and she recommended tetracycline or erythromyacin, both meant for bacterial issues. We came to the conclusion that it was not water conditions, but something conta...

Re: Scary purple fungus-thing
Post your water parameters asap, and if the water is smelly, that's a fairly bad sign. If it smells fishy, it's probably bacterial. Do another water change, a large one, at least 50%. Do another one tomorrow morning, and how often is depending on your test results. For future reference, fish can go...

Scary purple fungus-thing
Hey guys, my figure 8 has developed some strange purplish growth on his "forehead". It looks slightly raised, kind of fuzzy (like a very short moss), and fairly triangular in shape. He's had it for about two days, and I noticed it shortly after returning to my dorm after evacuating for Hur...

Fahaka max size
Pufferpedia says 18 inches but out of all the youtube fahaka videos (theres a lot) all look to be less than 10 inches. Is this a MAX max size or an average max size? What IS the fahakas true average size? And Ive heard 100 gallon tank estimates for these guys, that seems a little small, what would y...

Mbu/fahaka combo
Ever been done? Would never do it myself, but just curious, cause that would be pretty cool if it was miraculously pulled it off. For me it would just be one or the other if I ever had the opprotunity to have either.

Re: Wood in tanks

Re: I think I literally almost scared him to death...
Im 99.99999% sure that it was nothing in the water. Nothing bright red or orange. Not waking them up. Not being picked on by the other. If you were there you would probably know exactly what it was. I think the scare was big enough to really eff up their nervous systems or something like that. If my...

Re: I think I literally almost scared him to death...
Bad news guys... The first one died... I think I already mentioned this, but my friend had a rabbit that died of a heart attack while being chased by his dog, so I think that may be what happened here... Why else would they have frozen like that, and immediately after spazzing too? The other one is ...

Re: I think I literally almost scared him to death...
Um... Now the other one has done the same thing... He didnt puff, but he did everything else... My phone rang and I had left it in my room with the fish, so I went to get it and figured I'd check on them at the same time. The second I walk up to the tank, the other one was set off. The first one is ...
