Re: New tank, debating on fish/plants...

I have always liked Gobies, they just always look so grumpy, which is awesome. And my snail tank has started to come along finally. Now when I look in the tank, the glass it just covered in snail eggs and baby snails crawling all around...

Re: What did you do with your tank today

Oh, yeah never owned one. I have seen the C-series and love the way the look and they way they are set-up. The Marineland C-530 is a monster of a canister with alot of filter room like 4 baskets that you can add just about anything to them. Even comes with all the media plus hollowed ceramic rings,...

That is about as natural as they come. Love it!!!!!!!!!!. Btw, what kind of light are you using on it? I use one of these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001BOFFKE/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_1?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B000YHIB78&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DE...

Re: Update on 45 gallon tank and DPs

I was holding them for a friend of mine until his tank was set up. It was a win-win situation; they cycled my tank and me keeping them allowed him enough time to setup his tank. He has a 55 and he now has 3 goldfish, including these two in it... should be plenty of space for them to grow huge! which...

Re: Is this a different puffer? May need ID help...

It's pretty cool watching them eat; they swarm on food and play tug-of-war with the bloodworms. Haven't fed them snails yet, still waiting on them to breed in a separate 5 gallon. So is it normal for one to have such a variance? I have been thinking it is a different kind of puffer, especially since...

Is this a different puffer? May need ID help...

So I was looking in my tank today and one of my puffers (there are 13 of them) looks ALOT different than the others... I thought I bought 13 DPs. They were really tiny when I got them, less than 1/2". So check this one out, to me it looks completely different than the others: DSCF0874 A.jpg DSC...

Re: Fan Shrimp Pics 56k warning

Awesome looking shrimp! They have some at my LFS... I wonder how they would do with DPs? I mean, they are at least 3x as big as they will ever be.

Re: New tank, debating on fish/plants...

So I fed them frozen blood worms today... they were on them like a pack of wolves. My wife said they looked like they were all playing tug of war. So now they are all fat and happy.

Re: New tank, debating on fish/plants...

As far as I know, the black worms are not available in my area. I will continue to look though. I've got one store around here that is pretty good at getting you whatever you need, it just usually takes a little while though.

Re: New tank, debating on fish/plants...

It's a 45 gallon. And yea, I will probably end up switching out males for females but they are just so small right now that it is impossible to sex them. They are MAYBE 1/2 inch, tops. So when I bought them, the LFS said they were feeding them flake food. Should I continue to do the same and at the ...

Re: New tank, debating on fish/plants...

So... I went with DPs. So the current residents of the tank are 9 DPs and 3 Ottos. Is there room enough for more DPs? Even though there is 9 I want more, I'm thinkin 12-15. Is that too much for the 45 gal? Here are some pics. Sorry for the quality but the are SO HARD to take pics of, they constantly...

Re: New tank, debating on fish/plants...

That wood that is in there was originally brown... it is completely covered in algae. I suspected the list was a little heavy too. I could probably go with 8 DPs, 1 Farlowella, 2 Kuhli Loaches and 3 ottos and be pretty happy. Thanks for the info on the thread. I never thought of ottos getting caught...

Re: New tank, debating on fish/plants...

PP: Thank you! I think I have decided to go with 8-10 DPs, 6 or so Ottos, 2-3 Kuhli Loaches and 1-2 Farlowellas (Twig Catfish). I have not seen Farlowellas in very many tanks and I think because of their long, slender, and heavily armored bodies they would do great in this tank. And they look cool w...

Re: New tank, debating on fish/plants...

So I just stepped on one half of my gloss top on my tank and cracked it all the way across... I am SOOOO mad right now!! Going to superglue it together tonight and see if that fixes it... Oh yea, and I just checked last night, water parameters are PERFECT! Water is still a bit cloudy looking though....
