Tried to take some shots last night but the battery in my cam died, and I don't know where the charger is.
Hopefully my wife knows and she will charge it up tonight...

Fahaka developing orange spots
So I noticed 3 orange-ish spots on each side of my little Fahaka.
Are these normal for a Fahaka, or is he possibly something other than a Fahaka?
I will try and get some pics up late tonight or tomorrow.

Re: Price of puffers in your country
I paid $40. USD for my baby fahaka...
It was a little high, but I looked for over a year before finding him so the price was not an issue...

Re: Are Fahaka Puffers very friendly?
I had my hand in the tank yesterday cause I was adding some more plants and he was coming right after me...
I had to shoo him away a few times and he would come right back at me again.
When he gets bigger I dont think I will be putting my hand in the tank without penning him in first...

Re: New Puffer owner (Fahaka)
Adorable fish - one suggestion though - that sterilizer can handle the 350 or so GPH the mag 3 puts out, but pretty much just kills algae and bacterial blooms at that flow rate - you might want to put a splitter valve so you can push only, say 100gph through it - that will kill just about any water...

Re: New Puffer owner (Fahaka)
Just did a small water change, mostly just to clean up after the little pig.... There were chewed up bits of krill all over in the gravel, and a few processed bits as well... Before I did the 10G vac and covered the near 5G Evap off the top (didnt have the hood on for a few days) I did test the wate...

Re: Do Fahaka puffers need salt??
I always use aquarium salt, not Marine salt. I know the difference.
I keep a carton of AP Aquarium salt on hand at all times cause my channel catfish tends to bang himself up once in a while and I put it in to keep his wounds from getting infected.

I prefer melafix as well, but I was always told 1Tbsp per 5G for injury... Thats the recommended dosage advice they give at P-fury

Re: Do Fahaka puffers need salt??
Thanks!!
So I can do a standard tonic dose if needed (1 heaping TBS per 5G) for injury/nitrite poisoning/ Etc.
It is unlikely that I would since his tank is going to be planted, but just in case he can be dosed with salt?

Do Fahaka puffers need brackish or saltwater as they grow or do they remain true freshwater fish?
