Re: Betta is well and eating
Females have been known to make bubble nests, believe it or not. Does this fish have an ovipositor?

I will have to respectfully disagree. I still don't think that's safe long-term.

Re: Betta is well and eating
The male and female should NEVER live together! They can only be together when they're properly conditioned and ready for breeding. Even then, they can seriously injure each other.

Re: Slow Growth Rate for Fahaka
So why do we worry about transmitting parasites through the water? Should we not?

Re: Found a site that sells actual live bacteria in sponge filte
That is good, but unless you picked them up and zipped straight back to put them in your tank they are probably not much good as the bacteria would die if it took a couple of days to reach you. Also if they are running loads of filters on each tank they will only hold enough bacteria for a percenta...

Found a site that sells actual live bacteria in sponge filte
This site sells a REAL instant cycling product - sponge filters straight from their own tanks.

Re: Slow Growth Rate for Fahaka
I personally think that dosing the water helps, since there are parasites in the water that you've got to kill too. And I did successfully deworm a couple fish by dosing water when I couldn't get the meds into them. I prefer treating both food and water.

Re: POTM May 2012 - send in your entries!
I think we didn't get enough entries this time, but last I checked, we hadn't decided whether to simply go with fewer entries or wait till next month. Either way, submit it whenever you like, and I'm sure Troender will put it in the next chance she gets! Thanks for entering!

Re: Snoopey finally puffed up.
That's exciting! Photo tutorial: You would want to upload your picture(s) to a site like Imgur, Flickr, or Photobucket. I think Flickr doesn't require you to make an account. Then you paste the link to the picture (it will end in ".jpg" or another photo extension) into your post and put th...

Re: Fahaka Puffer--quite sick.
The level of salt has been consistent. When I say 1-3, I guess I was implying the range of what people typically put in when they have a sick fish. Also I don't know how it was implied my tank wasn't cycled to begin with. It was. As far as low nitrates, the color "light blue" and the colo...
