Re: ISO Young Hairy

I'm glad to hear that. I'll let him get a little hungry and keep trying.

Re: ISO Young Hairy

Let's see some pics!

My guy looked at that beautiful, orange fresh krill then looked at me like I slapped him. I did not see that coming

But she is outgoing and always comes out to see me when I come into the room. She is quite the begger and expects food.
She is gorgeous... and looks big. How big is she?

Re: ISO Young Hairy

So I've had this guy for three days and he's blowing my mind. One thing about this species that seems apparent to me is that it should never be kept on white sand. I see so many pics and videos of people keeping them like that, and they mostly look bland and yellowish. You're never going to see this...

Re: ISO Young Hairy

Just happened to call a local shop on a whim on Friday, and what do you know? They'd been sitting on this guy for 7 months, which also made for a good bargaining chip. I got him for 60 bucks. He's settlng in well, and he has eaten already. Thanks for all the advice guys.

My GH is around 160ppm. What do you consider extremely high?

Water Hardness - Lurkers

Hi Guys, I want a Hairy, but there is a nice looking subadult suvatti at a LFS. It's been there for at least two months, so he must be a fairly hardy specimen, considering he's on disgusting pink gravel with nowhere to hide. My tank is cycled, but newly. I am in Central Indiana, and the water is ver...

Re: ISO Young Hairy

ONE INCH? OMG. That would make me a happy camper. Curious if your guy ever buries himself like miurus and suvatti? Looks to me like baileyi Is designed more to blend in on the surface, spreading those cirri to break up the outline? Actually....I know they are, just wondering if they bury themselves ...

ISO Young Hairy

Hi Guys, I've been out of the hobby for a few years, and have just set up a tank for a baileyi. It's just a 20L, but I plan to transfer into a 40 breeder when the right deal presents itself. Anyway, I know they can be hard to find like congos. Is there a certain time of year they come into the count...

Re: Tankmates for Congo

First off, when you're wrong you're wrong, and I was wrong. Even a well fed Joey is the picture of patience, and at the time of this writing there is only one SAE left. Secondly...the quote below probably wouldn't have bothered me as much if it were not for the snide rolling eyes emoticon, but since...

Re: Tankmates for Congo

This is why the minimum should be adhered to or better still exceeded The minimum as defined by who? All aquarium fish are kept in quarters that are a ridiculously poor replacement for their natural habitat. A single 12" Oscar in a 220 gallon tank is about the same as a congo puffer in a ten g...

Re: Tankmates for Congo

Just thought you guys might be interested to know that I have since moved Joey and the SAEs into a 27 cube tank. I also added a third SAE to make it more like a school. They really are cool little fish. I am fully prepared for Joey to get one or all of them eventually, but I'm telling ya, these fish...
