Converting to Brackish
Hello, I was wondering if anyone could give me information on how to convert a freshwater tank into a brackish tank. Currently I'm cycling a 37 gallon tank and planning on doing a freshwater community tank. This leaves my current 16 gallon freshwater community tank available for re-purposing. I woul...

Re: Slime around mouth
What are the tank details? (Tank size, water readings, tankmates, what type of puffer?).

Re: puffer facebook group
I believe I just found the other group that Pufferpunk was commenting about and I must agree that it upsets me to see that a group who says that they "love" puffers would have a picture of a puffed up puffer out of water!
@Johnnyfishtanks your group seems very nice!!

Re: Help! J-P's Set up
I have no helpful advice but I wanted to say how awesome your tanks are!! Looking at your tanks gives me two feelings, 1.) Depressed, because I don't have the room for more tanks and that my tanks don't look as nice.:P 2.)Motivated, to make my tanks look as nice as yours!! Keep up the good work!! :m...

Re: Treating Planted Community Tank with Ick/Ich
Just for future reference what temp would the loaches prefer to be at?
I read somewhere that 80F was fine....that is what you get for trusting random Google sites instead of coming here!!

Re: Treating Planted Community Tank with Ick/Ich
Well if the loaches won't like the temp raise would it be ok to leave it at 80F?
My loaches don't seem to mind the current temp at 80F, they are quite active (doing the kuhli dance) and eating. Although maybe when this treatment is done I will lower the temp because I want them to happy!!

Re: Treating Planted Community Tank with Ick/Ich
Does it matter what size pitcher? I think I'm totally making this process much more complex than it really is. :boggle: But I really appreciate everyone being patient with me and answering my questions. Also do I need to take the filter media out during this treatment or is that just with medication...

Re: Treating Planted Community Tank with Ick/Ich
This may seem dumb but I'm still confused about adding the salt mixture to my tank and about the salt mixture itself. My confusion may be in part from my overly cautious nature...I pretty much won't do anything until I fully understand what I'm doing. I know I need to 1 tablespoon per 10 gallons whi...

Re: Treating Planted Community Tank with Ick/Ich
In the article it says 1tablespoon for every 5 gallons but you stated 1 tablespoon for every 10 gallon above.
Would doing every 10 gallons be better for my plants?

Oh ok! Are you also recommending this treatment for a month?
Ick is such a bummer with all the water changes but I love my fish and I'm willing to do anything to ensure their health!!

@ purplecandle - "You might could try jungle fizz tabs to soak the food in for parasites. All my puffs have eaten their food when soaked in this. But, other people have different results. Jungle fizz is really cheap so it may be worth a shot." At what concentration would you recommend? Bas...

Re: Treating Planted Community Tank with Ick/Ich
I still a little confused about adding the salt to the tank water. Could you explain that to me? What I understand is that 1 tablespoon should be used for every 5 gallons which means I'm adding 3 tablespoons. What I don't understand is how much water do I use to dissolve the salt in before adding to...
