Re: Help! Green Spotted Puffer Swimming & Resting Sideways

I have no idea what happened. Maybe the "Made in China" plants started leeching something? Other than the MTS I found (I have another post on that) in the aquarium a month ago, I did nothing new. :( Both puffers seemed to become paralyzed in their last days. So odd and sad.

Re: Help! Green Spotted Puffer Swimming & Resting Sideways

Hey everyone. We had to help Trinity fishie, our second (and last) puffer to fishie heaven on Friday. Same symptoms as the other puffer, mostly. Except this one was on the bottom of the aquarium for a day and then ended up floating on the top. We turned off the filters a few hours before we helped i...

Re: Trumpet Snail Infestation!!

Hey everyone. Thanks for the replies. The main reason I'm not comfortable with them in there, is because I don't want our puffer to break its beak... But I also know that the SNAIL's bio load can become quite a bit if they take over the tank too much. Though, I must say, it's nice to have cleaner de...

Trumpet Snail Infestation!!

Hi everyone. We have had our two GSPs since summer of 2007? Or 2008? One of them we helped cross the bridge back at the end of December. Anyway, we put some ghost shrimp in the tank late this spring, and one of the shrimp has survived. Our remaining puffer wouldn't go near it because it was so big. ...

Re: Help! Green Spotted Puffer Swimming & Resting Sideways

Thanks everyone, for the condolences and suggestions. It was a sad weekend last weekend. Doing better now, and just glad Taylor fishie isn't suffering anymore.

Re: Help! Green Spotted Puffer Swimming & Resting Sideways

Well, RIP little Taylor fish (profile pic). :( After watching it get worse and worse, after trying to burp it and after trying to force feed it, we helped it to fishie heaven yesterday evening. Sad day, but glad it isn't suffering anymore. Trinity fish seems happy now, though. It was stressed watchi...

Re: Help! Green Spotted Puffer Swimming & Resting Sideways

No, I definitely do NOT change the biofiber stuff. Only the filter sponges that are filled with carbon. The fish has now been on its back on the bottom of the tank, not moving (except its eyes) but breathing (barely and seemingly stopping then gulping) for over 24 hours. Also odd-its belly is white....

Re: Help! Green Spotted Puffer Swimming & Resting Sideways

Actually, they haven't grown a whole lot in the time we have had them. They are probably only about 3" from nose to tail. And yes, I change all four filter cartridges every month. Buffer: Seachem Malawi/Victoria Buffer Salt: Instant Ocean Sea Salt Water Conditioner: Aqueon Water Conditioner (I ...

Help! Green Spotted Puffer Swimming & Resting Sideways

Hi All. It's been a while since I posted! (Thankfully?) We have had two GSPs in a 55 gallon aquarium for 5.5 years. They eat every other evening and we do 50% water changes every 2-3 weeks (this has been the normal routine for almost the entire time we have had the aquarium) and we don’t use any add...

Re: GSP turned a pale yellow green (for a month now)??

All water paramaters are good and we just switched up their decor and did another 50% water change this weekend. (It's pacing now due to the new decor, but the pale gray-yellow-green color hasn't changed.) Has anyone else here actually experienced the color change? (Not temporary, but long term?)

GSP turned a pale yellow green (for a month now)??

Hi all. We have two green spotted puffers in a 55 gallon tank (they are each about 3 inches long) and have had the tank set up for over 4 years now. About a month ago I noticed that one of the puffers was turning a pale yellow green, definitely not the normal neon green the other is. It's been that ...

Re: JUNE POTM - Send Entries in ASAP!!!!

can I take a picture of my empty 55 and go to MS paint and just draw apuffer? LOL Actually, according to rule #5 (see below), wouldn't that be legal? Or have the rules changed? I'm just curious now as well! :) "5. Graphically edited or "Photoshopped" images are acceptable, as long as...

Re: Freeze Dried Snails? Help!

We did try to do a small breeding tank a couple of times, and seriously could not get the snails to get past just hatched... they would all die shortly after. And we tried it a few times. :( And yes, we want to try to get their beaks back to being shorter... they are creeping up on us! Eeek! And we ...

Freeze Dried Snails? Help!

Hi everyone. Two of our local aquarium/fish stores went out of business and they were the only two places we could get snails for our GSPs. I've tried the larger pet stores (Petco, etc.) but they are cleaned out pretty well. So, point being, it's been a while since our puffers got snails. :( And we ...
